Dale Brooks First Elgin
Casualty in Korean War
Eighteen-year old Dale Brooks, son of Mr. & Mrs. Forrest Brooks, was killed in action on July 25, 1950 while serving with the 1st Cavalry division at the time engaged in the opening days of the Korean War that erupted only a month earlier, on June 25th.
He enlisted in the Army shortly after his seventeenth birthday and immediately after his basic training was sent to Korea to join the 1st Cavalry. He is buried in Lakewood Cemetery .
Today's Memorial Service remembers those who fought and died in the Korean War and all those who died during the horrific terrorist attack on our nation on September 11th, 2001.
