THE HERALD Serving Maywood, Bellwood, Forest Park, Hillside, Westchester, Broadview, Northlake, Berkeley and Melrose Park VOL. LIX, No. 47 THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1943 PRICE 5 CENTS Churches Hold United Service this Morning (See Page 3) Scrap Drive Nets 27 Tons Wastepaper (See Page 3) Chorus will Feature Geo. Gilman (See Page 3) "Coke" Dance Floor Show announced (See Page 3) PRAYER Dear Lord-This foxhole's a little shallow and the "big stuff" is starting to come over plenty. I guess there isn't anything much I have to say since this Thanksgiving is different than any I can remember. I want you to know, though, I appreciate we're in this together. Last year I was home for Thanksgiving furlough. Aunt Clarissa played the organ for morning service like always, and then we all went home, where Dad carved what looked like the biggest turkey in two states. This year it's just you and me in this hole.... Still, I'm glad to be alive and helping on this thing. It's good to know when I get back it will still be a country where the little guy sounds off when he wants to ... where he can make all he wants of whatever You gave him. . . . An' pardon the interruption but I think I'd better dig this hole a little deeper. It looks like the going for You and me might get tough for a minute .. . an' I sorta like staying around to do my share. Amen.
