PREPARING OVERSEAS CHRISTMAS GIFTS was a chosen chore for Lt. Franklin Pursell, home recently on a 30-day leave after completing 84 fighter missions over occupied territory. Back with his fighter squadron, on active duty, Lt. Pursell declared that servicemen in the European theater like cigarettes, light reading—and food, food, food.
