. . .TO GOD AND MY COUNTRY-"
SCOUTS AID BOOK DRIVE—Boy Scouts of the villages are taking on extra assignments from Uncle Sam to do their part in the defense of America. Here in the community, Scouts of the Thatcher Woods Area Council are assisting in the Collection of gift books for men in the army or navy. Harold Hoffman, pictured above, is typical of the many boys in the villages standing by the Scout oath and law which reads: "On my honor I will do my best— to do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout law. To help other people at all times. To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight. Beginning Tuesday, and all next week. Scouts will observe the 32nd anniversary of the founding of this great organization. Today more than ten million men and boys represent the circle of defenders of democracy. Residents wishing to contribute to the Victory Book Drive may give their books to Scouts in the neighborhood or deposit books in containers set up. Details of the book drive will be found on page 3 of this issue.
