THE MODERN YOUTH MUSEUM OPENS
A crowd of over 800 children attended the opening of the Modern
Youth Section of the Illinois State Museum on Saturday, May 18.
Puppet shows by the Proctors were given throughout the day, and, in
spite of rain in the afternoon, drew a crowd of youngsters who clutched
their umbrellas and waited for the show to begin. The new junior
museum is located at Second and South Grand Avenue in the old
Edward W. Payne House, and has been carried out by the Illinois State
Museum staff with the cooperation of the Central Laboratory of the
W.P.A. Museum Extension Project.
