THE KU KLUX KLAN IN ILLINOIS
TO: HONORABLE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY
This is our first report on the investigation of the Ku Klux Klan in Illinois as mandated to this Commission by House Resolution 146. This is obviously a very preliminary report since the resolution was adopted just six weeks ago.
This report will include a summary of our research into the history of the Ku Klux Klan; recent activities of the KKK in northern Illinois, particularly in Cicero, Aurora, Joliet and Kankakee; and a brief report of some of our initial findings.
We have already identified some leaders and members of the KKK in Illinois but for obvious reasons we shall withhold such information until the completion of our investigation next year.
We have already commenced overt and covert inquiries, but in order not to unnecessarily jeopardize the integrity of our investigation, we cannot go into any detail at this time.
House Resolution 146
This Resolution was sponsored by the following Representatives:
George H. Ryan, Sr. . James R. Washburn Arthur A. Telcser Jack R. Beaupre Jane M. Barnes
Goudyloch Dyer Edmund F. Kucharski William D. Walsh Charles E. Gaines
