| Description | Petitioners ask that Governor French pardon Jacob Hoffman, who pleaded guilty to forgery in the April term, 1847, of the McLean County Circuit Court, and was sentenced to one year in the penitentiary. The petition states that Hoffman is from a "respectable though poor family" from Fulton County, Illinois, and that his family depends on his labor.
