Prom Court Elected To Reign At Junior-Senior Dance
One girl and one boy from these seniors on the Prom Court will be crowned 1992 Prom Queen and King at the Junior-Senior Prom this Friday night at 6:30pm at Bull Valley Country Club in McHenry. Historical Society Plans Annual Heritage Fair	
Second grader Kristen Dehning (right) won first place for her nutrition poster recently entered in the State of Illinois National Nutrition Month Poster Contest. She received a plaque and a new bicycle for her prizes. Bryana Shergold (left) received an honorable mention for her poster in the kindergarten division. The girls' posters were chosen to go to state from all the entries in the McHenry County competition.
Looking for some fun in the country? The McHenry County Historical Society will hold its Annual Heritage Fair on Sunday, June 28, from 10am to 4pm. The festival features music', games, balloons, clowns, raffles and door prizes. Many local crafters will be displaying their wares. A white elephant and bake sale is planned, along with hand crafted items made by museum members for sale. Quilt demonstrations and slide presentations will be ongoing, along with lots of old-fashioned fun.
The 1895 Harmony School will be featured, as well as our addition to the Museum. The Museum is located at 6422 Main St. in beautiful downtown Union.

State Bank Of Huntley Honors 40 Year Employee, Gertrude Koppen
On April 27th Gertrude Koppen celebrated her 40th anniversary with the State Bank of Huntley. She mentioned a few of the many changes she has seen in personnel, fsicilities, and method of operation during her tenure.
She stated that the forty years at the bank have gone by quickly and she has many fond memories. Gertrude has always enjoyed working with both her co-workers and customers. Her greatest asset seems to be her desire to find out the customers' needs and helping them.
She was hired by William Hoy, president of the bank on April 27, 1952. At that time Clay Marsh was vice-president and cashier, and Elsie Hoy was secretary. Betty Zirk and Gertrude were the bookkeepers and tellers.
She remembers her very first customer, as a teller, was Mildred Anderson, who then worked for Ben Hansford Chevrolet. The banking business was quite different then. The area they worked in was quite small with only one teller window. The area between the employees and customers was separated by steel bars. Bank records were hand recorded in large ledger books. After locking the doors each day, the bank's books had to be balanced by hand before they could leave.
In 1956 Mr. Hoy sold his controlling interest in the bank to William McCredie. At that time Earle Johnson became president and Henry- Marlowe vice-president. In 1960 Wayne Miller replaced Roger Bergloff and in 1961 Roy Bankes joined the bank as

cashier. Mr. McCredie retained control of the bank until his death in 1980. In 1958 Mr. McCredie remodeled the bank building and expanded it from it's humble facilities to a "modem, full-service" bank in the building on Main Street, which now houses the Huntley Medical Center. The bank remained there until 1977 when it moved to its present location on Route 47.
Gertrude has adapted well to the many changes over the years. She has always been willing to do whatever job needed to be done. She has worked as a bookkeeper, teller, loan clerk, and currently manages the bank's safe deposit boxes and certificate of deposit areas. She also performs a variety of personalized, customer service duties, including license plate service, special collection service and wire transfer service.
Gert has announced that she and Lyle plan to retire and move to Arkansas the end of the year. The bank is planning an open house and retirement party for her in the fall.
