DFC Coordinates Shipments To Middle East
DFC Wareiiouse/Truck Driver Dennis McNames loads a shipment of donated goods from Huntley to Saudi Arabia.
DFC Transportation Co. will soon be sending the third shipment of donations from the Huntley area to troops in Saudi Arabia.
This latest pallet of boxes comes from the American Legion Post 673, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10780 and the McHenry County Chapter of VietNow. The Legion placed collection boxes in their hall for donations from the general public and various
organizations that meet there. Donating organizations include the Huntley Lioness, Huntley Lions and the snowmobile clubs. The VFW collected four cartons of donations to add to the pallet.
VietNow's donations come from a recent collection drive they did. K-Mart and Wal-Mart Stores in Crystal Lake, Harvard, McHenry and Woodstock allowed VietNow to park a trailer in their lots and set up donation tables in

their stores. DFC donated the trailer. Dean Foods and MGA, Inc. (Robert Alders it Sons) of Delavan, JV^I, donated a tractor and driver to pull the trailer around McHenry County to collect donations. Several other stores and offlces throughout the county donated space for "drop ofr points. Peet Freight of Woodstock, donated lot space to keep the trailer for 2 months and a docking facility to pack the shipments. DFC Warehouse Manager Jeff
Roesslein and Scott Harm, Manager of Operations, coordinated the storage and transportation of the shipments to an army depot in Tracy, CA. The boxes are then transferred to the Defense Logistics Agency who ships them to Saudi Arabia. In the event the war ends before the boxes are sent, they will be donated to a veterans hospital or other veterans assistance organization.
Thanks From The Front
Kevin Schrock, currently serving in Saudi Arabia in Operation Desert Storm, recently sent a message home to Huntley through a phone call to his mom. She relays his thanks, appreciation and surprise at the overwhelming response he's received from Huntley. The troops, as of this phone call, were getting their mail & packages. There have been cards, letters and gifts in a steady supply.
He's keeping up on Huntley, too, with a gift subscription to the Huntley Farmside (sent to all the known Huntley soldiers serving in Saudi). "It means more than you'll know for the guys to get stuff from home," he said.
There were little packages tucked in some of the cards, too. His mom, Sherry, says he is amazed at the new things he's received: Lifesavers Holes and little tea-bag like
things with coffee in them, to name a few. "Look at what I'm missingl" he said.
BUNNY CARDS NEXT!
The next batch of cards to be sent are called "Bunny Cards" since "Easter" is a Christian celebration and no religious cards can be sent.
A "Bunny Card" greetings drop box will be
located in the Huntley High School. Cards must be in no later than 9 a.m., March 8. No postage is necessary. Address your cards to: Any U.S. Service Person Operation Desert Storm APO New York, N.Y. 09848-0006
Sherry Schrock will pick up the cards and deliver them to be mailed.
