Not pictured: Jan Hoeft, Hillary Lilly, Mark Lilly, James Reed and Walter Quant. 4-H'ers Plan Horse Clinic For January — The second 4-H horse clinic will take place on January 16, 1993, l-3pm, at the Heffel Farm on Anthony Rd., Marengo. All 4-H'ers are welcome. This is a rehabilitation farm for tired and problemed horses. The Heffels will explain and demonstrate proper care & treatment using modern, up-to-date equipment. This clinic will count for one of the two clinic requirements needed for the horse project. If you have any direction questions, please call George Bielawa at 815-943-6780 or the Heffel Farm at 815-568-8490. Harvestors Hold Annual Awards Banquet By Laura Kohley The Huntley Harvestors 4-H Club held their December pot luck banquet and awards ceremony on Dec. 10, 1992 beginning at 7:19pm. First, guest speaker Nancy Moore spoke on her 18 1/2 years in 4-H. Krista Jurs, Tim Hoeft and Denise Archambeault gave the dinner prayer. Everyone enjoyed the pot luck dinner. After dinner awards were given to all of the 4-H'ers for their accomplish¬ ments during the past year. The next Harvestors meeting will be January 14, 1993 at 7:30pm in the Congregational Church Fellowship Hall. Talks to be given at the January meeting will be by Debbie Roesner, Jennie Roesner, Kelly Bein, Joshua Boston, Allison Endyk, and Steve Conrad. Denise & Nancy Archambeault, Billy Edwards, Debra & Jennie Roesner, Jackie Dalleska and Kelly Bein will bring the refreshments. A 4-H Dance will be held on January 23, 1993. The dance is for kids from Huntley. Please talk to 4-H'ers for tickets and more details. The Huntley Chamber would like to welcome the 1993 Board. The new Board will be seated beginning Jan. 1st: President, Thomas R. Jurs, Re/Max Realty; Vice-President, Jan Evans, Ventura Associates LTD; Secretary, Tricia Clancy, Windsor Realty; and Treasurer, Wade Runge, Bunge & Associates P.C. Directors: Robert Lemke, The Prime Group, Inc.; Leland Brasile, Union Special; Tracey Schwartz, Huntley Farmside; Tim Essig, Huntley Country Store; Ted Jankowski, Huntley Material Handling; William Awe, Huntley Chiropractic; Pat Bieszki, Northwest Mobile Fitness; Representatives from Village of Huntley, Park District and School District; and Executive Director, Cathy DeQuaker, Essency Desktop Creations. The Charter Membership ended Dec. 31, 1992 with a total of 101 members. The beginning of a Chamber in Huntley was a success. The First Annual "Holiday Country Charm" sponsored by the Huntley Park District and co-sponsored by the Huntley Chamber of Commerce, Huntley Lioness Club and Tricia Clancy, was a huge success. This year's crowd topped approximately 100 children. Eyes twinkled and grew larger as children watched Santa step down from the fire engine he arrived on. Thank you to J.H. Patterson Lumber for their donation of plywood for the ice sculpturing and the McHenry County Salvation Army for their donation of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, hot cider and their time to serve it. The Chamber, in conjunction with Huntley Elementary and High School, has instituted a video history of the town of Huntley in preparation for its 150th birthday in 2001. This will be an on-going project and there are several expenses that need to be met. High quality video tapes that cost approximately $8.00 each are needed for interviewing. If you would like to sponsor a tape(s), please contact the Chamber office, 708-669-0166. Also, anyone who knows of friends or relatives who are long time residents of Huntley and can share their knowledge of growth and changes they've seen take place, please call the Chamber office. The next Business After Hours will be sponsored by Huntley Chiropractic on Friday, Feb. 12th at 6:00pm. All Chamber Members and non- members are invited. The first year anniversary is also being celebrated. RSVP to the Chamber office. Plans are in the making for Huntley's First Annual Business Expo sponsored by the Huntley Chamber of Commerce.
