Art Bentz, Jerry Camardelle and Walt Marcyniuk of Heavy Commercial Contractors placed the finishing touch on top of the new gazebo in Huntley's Town Square last Friday afternoon. The copper-tooled eagle- in-flight was crafted by D. G. Murphy of Barrington and donated by The Prime Group.
Huntlian Participates In Summer Safety Program
Huntley Takes Loss In First Game Of 1994 Season 	
Robert Hight, Jr. of Huntley was a team leader for 96 students who spent 7 weeks this summer performing community service at sites across Eastern Massachusetts. The projects, organized through the National Civilian Community Corp/Boston
University "Summer of Safety" program, ranged from substance abuse education to renovation of historical landmarks. "Summer of Safety" brings 15 leam leaders and youths aged 14-17 together for a summer of "friends, fun and
getting things done." Living on a military base in Ft. Devens, MA, participanu, called corps members, engage not only in community service projects, but also in educational classes, sporting and recreational activities. Hight, a 1994 college
graduate and a 1990 graduate of Crystal Lake South H.S., supervised a team of 10 corps members as they set up a violence prevention program at the South Boston Boys and Girls Club. Hight is the son of Robert and Mary Ann Hight of Huntley.
HFPD Passes Final Budget, Discusses Personnel, Salaries
President Gow called the July 21,1994 regular meeting to order at 7pm in the board room of the Huntley Fire Protection District.
Present were President Gow, Secretary Williams, Trustees Allen and Graf, Attomey Militello and Fire Chief Veath. Absent was Treasurer Homuth.
President Gow announced that the first otder of business would be the public hearing for the Final Budget and Appropriation Ordinance for the Huntley Fire Protection District for the fiscal year beginning May 1,1994 and ending April 30,1995 as required by law. Minutes of this hearing are set out as a separate recording.
He then resumed the regular
meeting and called for approval of the following minutes:
June 23,1994 regular meeting: President Gow asked that on page 3 the name Beescow be changed lo Beeskow and that the fu-st name of Dennis be added for the record. Thereafter, a motion was made by Secretary Williams, seconded by Trustee Allen, to approve the minules as amended. Roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.
April 27, 1994: There being no additions nor corrections, a motion was made by President Gow, seconded by Truslee Graf, lo approve the minutes as presenied and roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.
July 14, 1994: There being no additions nor corrections, a motion was made by Truslee Graf, seconded by Secretary Williams, to approve these minutes also, roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.
In the absence of Treasurer Homuth, President Gow presented the treasurer's reports, noting general fire money market, $115,898.32; general fue checking, $16,054.26; building fund, $216,605.00; impact/plan review fund, $17,583.84.
Next, the president asked for Secretary Williams' report of which he stated he had nothing to report this month.
The bill list was before the trustees for review. Questions were raised regarding Ace Hardware, which bill was
reviewed and President Gow asked about finequency of the Brown Storage bill which will be billed quarterly. There¬ after there being no more questions, a motion was made by Trustee Allen, seconded by President Gow, to approve the payment of bills as presenied, roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.
At this point. President Gow asked that the board go into executive session for pending litigation. He then made this motion, seconded by Truslee Allen, roll noted all ayes and so was held at 7:20i)m. Thereafter, Truslee Graf made a motion lo come out of same at 8:05pm, seconded by Truslee Allen, roll noted all ayes and the

Huntley High School's football leam faced Ashton/ Franklin Center, their first ' opponents of the 1994 season, Saturday, Aug. 27.
Huntley held them to a close game throughout mosl of the fust half of the game. Unfortunately, the opposition scored two quick touchdowns in the last few minutes of the   , fust half Huntley's only touchdown took place early in the fourth quarter, when Scott Sttang recovered a fumble in the end zone to give Hunlley 6 points. The final score was 46-6.
Coach Dave Joslin commended his leam for their strong effort He said, "We

Huntley Senior Citizen Club Membership Reaches All-Time High

Membership at the Hunlley Senior Citizen's Club reached 119, an all-lime high, with the signing of Grace McMilligan at our July meeting. This surppasses the 117 record sel in 1991.
Grace McMilligan joined Huntley Senior Citizens Club in July as the 119th member.
Other important business planned was a visit to Minnie Harting on Sept. 7, to help celebrate her 103rd birthday. For transporlation, call Al Jordi, 669-5643.
