Huntley Senior Citizens Enjoy Gulf Getaway
By AI Jordi, secretary
Eighteen Huntley seniors joined 24 other seniors on an 8-day tour of the Gulf of Mexico and Nashville Music City on Feb. 28.
Our first day of travel took us to Bowling Green, KY for an overnight stay at the Holiday Inn and a "get acquainted" dinner. The next morning, we headed to Huntsville, AL and the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and the Depot Transportation Museum with its railroad memorabilia. The third day took us to the beautiful Days Inn for a 3-day stay at Orange Beach, AL. The dinner at the greyhound race track was delicious, but most of us didn't do too good at
betting. Day 4 took us to the 4(X)-year-old Ft. Morgan, then on to the beautiful Bellengrath Gardens. Thousands of blooming chrysanthemums and tulips abound the landscaped walkways. A short stop in Fairhope, a tiny artists' village in charming Foley, and a southern style country buffet ended that evening. The next day took us to Pensacola, FL and a tour of the city and a visit to the National Museum of Naval Aviation and the Blue Angels. We also visited a miniature wall of the Viet Nam Veteran Memorial, where two local youths' names were found. Our dinner that night
was prime rib at Shirley & Wayne's Club. A casual evening of "oldies but goodies" dancing to a live band was enjoyed. On our sixth day we motored to Nashville, TN where we stopped at the Holiday Inn. We toured Music City early the next morning and the CounUy Music Hall of Fame and a recording studio at RCA Studio B. What a masterpiece! Copies of "You Are My Sunshine" can be ordered at a cost of $5. That afternoon we attended a taping of the popular Chase & Crook. Our own Alice Jordi was chosen as a participant on the
program and was seen as far away as Florida and California. The last day was a long travel day home, but our tour guide kept us awake with her wedding ceremony you read about in a previous paper. Huntley seniors had a wonderful trip that was enjoyed by everyone, and you know what a good group we are when others say, "Can we go with you on your next trip?" The hospitality room was open every night for rusty water, grape juice, diet coke and various snacks to go with them. Join us on Nov. 15 for a Branson Christmas spectacular.

Heartland To Hold Blood Drive At Huntley High
Spring vacations generally have a negative impact on blood donations in April. Heartland Blood Centers project 200 or less donors than needed
to meet patient transfusion needs at area hospitals. Donors are needed at all times to help meet all the transfusion needs.
To help meet this need there will be a blood drive held at Huntley High School on Friday, April 28,9am-lpm.
For more information, call the high school or Heartland Blood Centers at 708/741-8282 or 1-800-7TO-GIVE.
