SAR awards flag to Huntley Library
Huntley Royals end season
By Joyce Liput
The Daughters of the American Revolution (D AR) Kishwaukee Trail Chapter annually awards an organization or association an American flag. Leaming that the newly established Huntley Area Library did not as yet have a flag, they chose Huntley Library to receive one.
In a brief ceremony held in the library at noon Dec. 6, chapter regent Rosemary Belmonte and eight DAR chapter members presented the mounted flag to librarian Jane Thompson and library board member Richard Drendel. Drendel gratefiilly acknowledged the flag as "a detail overlooked for too long. 1 couldn't believe we didn't already have one.''
The ceremony concluded with the first official salute to the new flag, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. The satin, gold-fringed American flag, stand and golden- eagle-topped pole will be proudly displayed in the Huntley Library reading room.

Huntley Sixth graders remain undefeated
By Beth Berndt
The Sixth grade basketball team remains undefeated so far after some very close games. Recently they went to Prairie Grove to play the Panthers. David Marshall was high scorer with lOpoints followed by Nathan Berndt ^^ 6-4 of them at the line, ^m a very tense moment, one of Berndt's shots circled the hoop several times leaving the crowd and players on the edge of their seats before it finally dropped in for a point. Issac Nevel added 4 points from rebound shots and Nick DeBartolo also had 4. Ryan Roxworthy, Steve Heinrich, Ryan Ravagnie, Robbie Bowlin, Andrew Mohney, and Todd Weber, all contributed 2 points each but gave
alot of effort to the defense.
Brett Borchart was a strong player defensively to help make this a very exciting game for the Royals. In the Zion game, Berndt and Borchart tied with 8 points each. Borchart had 3 steals to add to that. Ravagnie had 6 points and4 steals, Marshall followed with 3 points. Mohney had 2 points, Ervin had 2 points and 1 rebound, and Nevel had 2 points and 5 rebounds.
The Royals hosted Fox River Grove and continued their quest for a division title. Berndt topped the scores with 10 points, while Borchart added 5 of his own. DeBartolo followed with 4 points and Mohney added 2. Ravagnie hada well-rounded effort with 2 points, 2 steals, and 4 rebounds. All of the players had a
good defensive game to contribute to this win.
Thefinalgame.of the regular season took the Royals to Riley school in Marengo. Bemdt outdid himself with
his all-time high of 18 points and 3 steals. Borchart had 7 points, and Nevel had 4 points and 5 Steals. Weber had 3 rebounds and Marshall

Early in the year, Huntley lost by 2 at Fox River Grove, so when the F.R.G. Eagles traveled to Huntley, both teams knew it would be a hard- fought battie. They watched a very exciting game which saw the Royals fall by 2 for the second time to the Eagles.
