The fun never stops as tour guide, Nancy Smit, performs a "wedding" for AI and Alice Jordi on the Huntley Senior Citizen Club trip to the Gulf of Mexico.
Huntley Seniors Enjoy Roadtrip Marriage
By Bob Eckman (as told to Joyce Liput)
It all started with the infonnation forms filled out by the passengers taking the motorcoach trip to the Gulf of Mexcio during the first week of March. Eighteen Huntlians joined the tour and, for a joke, decided they all would list their anniversary dates as March 3. The tour guide, Nancy Smit, wasn't about to let them get away with that. She decided to hold a "wedding" ceremony.
AI and Alice Jordi were the happy couple because Alice had been chosen to come up on stage at one of their Nashville show stops, giving her experience at being in the spotlight. On a fast-moving bus heading home after the 8-day tour, AI and Alice renewed their vows. The guide provided feathered felt "wedding" hats and a cactus bouquet. She played the wedding march on her Flugel
horn; rolled out a toilet paper runner down the bus' aisle and even drafted Carolyn Schultz as flowergirl and Doris and Ralph Drafall as matron of honor and best man. And that was just part of the fun everyone had on the 2,700-mile trip, visiting a variety of fascinating places. It was declared a terrific trip, made especially enjoyable by the wonderful antics of Nancy SmiL
