Let's Clean Up Our Community!
Saturday, April 16, is the date for the whole community to join together to "Clean Sweep Huntley." Held during Earth Week, area organizations and individuals are encouraged to pick up and collect road¬ side trash and improve the beauty of the town. A raindate of April 23 has been scheduled just in case.
Just show up at Deicke Park at 8:30am. Four teams will be made from all the volunteers and will disperse from the park promptly at 9am. Team captains will lead their groups through their territory towards the village park. At noon. Village President Jim
Dhamer will hold a dedication ceremony and Huntley will be a cleaner, brighter place to live. You may want to bring a pair of work gloves, a trash poker, or a rake, and possibly a hat for the sun. Hopefully, with a few hours of your time, and that of your neighbors and friends, Huntley's community spirit and pride will show.
The event is being sponsored by the Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Trash bags and a dumpster have been donated by Marengo Disposal. Many groups and organizations have already offered their support. Please join in.
A Look Into The Future
Have you been watching the area south of town along Route 47 and the tollway? Huntley's skyline is undergoing quite a change as the Huntley Factory Shoppes and the new water tower stand out against the background of corn fields.
The Roof Is Off!
Work started Sunday, April 10, on the Boy Scout Log Cabin renovation project in Deicke Park. The roof is off and, weather permitting, will continue on Sundays, beginning at 8:30am, until completed. Volunteers should call Hoppy Kahl at 669-3910 and let him know what time they can help out. They can also just show up, but scheduling a time can space out the volunteers to accomplish more. April 10 volunteers were Walter Lueck, Arthur E. Kahl, Arthur F. Kahl, Charles Ruth, Scott Ruth, Eric Ruth, Wayne Workowski, Mark Lilly and Jim Heavey.
In addition, Wayne and Carol Donahue recently donated $500 toward the cabin restoration project. Hoppy would also like to acknowledge Mary Manning's contribution of the log cabin photo published in The Huntley Farmside last week. Thanks, Mary.
