Huntley Factory Shops Open With Fanfare —

Thousands have now passed through the doors of Huntley Factory Shops since its grand opening on Wednesday, August 17th. With 39 outlet stores and five food vendors operat¬ ing, the first week in business has been incredibly successful for the mall.
Hundreds of Huntley residents gathered for the ribbon-cutting ceremony on the morning of the opening. Escorted in by the Midlothian Scottish Bag Pipes, representatives from Prime Group Inc. and Prime Retail, including former Illinois governor, Jim Thompson, took the stage with Village of Huntley president, Jim Dhamer, and Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry president. Wade Runge.
Project manager, Al Drogosz, and Prime Group president, Michael Reschke, offered many, many thank yous to the various people and organizations who cooperated
in the development of the mall. As introduction to the former governor, the national athem was played; and sang by many in the crowd.
Jim Thompson who sits on the Prime Retail board of directors, opened his speech with comments negating a newspaper story from that day that disparaged the new out¬ let center and emphasized the ill-effects of urban sprawl. Thompson noted that the first few sources quoted in the article were people who did not live or work in McHenry County and had nothing to do with the mall project. He praised Huntley for its part in creating so many temporary construction and permanent retail jobs for its area residents', and the additional sales tax revenue that will be generated for the local government.
President Dhamer expressed with emotion his gratitude to everyone involved in the project and all the people of Huntley. Reschke presented Dhamer with a hand-made

: T.L.C. Preschool is still accepting registration for the 3-year-old and 4-year-old classes. Walk-in registrations will be accepted during the open house on Thur.sday, Aug. 25, on a first come/first serve basis. Also, meet the T.L.C. Preschool staff for the 1994-95 school year.
