Smokey's to Host Breakfast With Santa/Holiday Hospitality Benefit

This year is not unlike any otha year. Stockings will be hung, presents will be opened, and laughter will ring Crom the homes of most Huntley residents. But in ime areas of McHenry County lere are people who are not that fortunate. Christmas for them will not bring the ring of laught^' but the sound of tears. The Illinois Retail Liquor Association McHenry County, Smokey's ar and Grill, Wuich Heating & SA/C, The American Legion of Huntley, and many other ^wonderful businesses and people (too many to name them all) around the area have come togetho- help many of these people.
These people are proud to announce their participation in the "Holiday Hospitality Raffle" ,as well as, the Breakfast With Santa being held at Smokey's Bar and Grill, 11808 Main St., Huntley, IL 60142, (847) 669-1889, on Saturday, December 14, 1996. Both promotions are being held to raise money for Home of the Sparrow and Turning Point of McHenry County. There are many families who will be helped through these organizations both during the Christmas Holiday and the rest of the year with the money raised. All money raised will go directly toward presents, winter clothing, food, or other
important needs these shelters may have.
The "Breakfast With Santa" is being held on Saturday, Decemb^ 14,1996, from 8am to 11am with "Santa" q}pearing first thing in the moming to share in an AIl- You-Care-To-Eat breakfast with you and your litde ones. Call ahead for admission prices. Although Smokey's is a Bar and Grill absolutely no alcohol will be served, of course, during Santa's stay with the litde ones. The lafQe drawing will be held later that evening and tickets can be purchased up until the time of the drawing. Tickets can be found at many locations throughout the
county.
The reason for the season always been the spirit of giving.| We give to our children and our friends to show how much we care. The many people involved widi this Holiday Raffle have given their time and their hearts and they ask only that you give a| small part of you to help in theirl cause to make this a Happy Holiday for many more.

TLC Preschool Plans Christmas Programs
Trinity Lutheran Church's TLC Preschool will present two Christmas programs this year.
The program for 4-year-olds through Kindergarten class will be Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 6:30pm.
The program for the 3-year-olds class will be Thursday, Dec. 19, at 12:30pm.
Everyone is invited to attend and enjoy the children's efforts.
Cookie Walk Coming!
The First Congregational Church of HunUey (comer of Church and Main) will be having their third annual cookie walk on Saturday, December 14Ui, from 9 to noon.
Stop by to pick up your holiday goodies! You can select and purchase from a large selection of homemade cookies and fudge at just $5.00/lb.

Huntley Schools Plan Christmas Programs
Huntley Elementary Schools have announced their seasonal winter programs.
"This is Your Life Santa Claus" will be presented by the 4 th and 5th graders* at 7:30pm on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the Elementary School Gym. Featured characters will be Ralph Ledwards, Pien-e the travel agent, the reindeer rappers, and many others from Santa's past. Some of the songs you will hear are Deck the Halls. It Came Upon a Midnight Clear and Santa You're Fat.
Kindergarten and second grade music classes will present their winter program "Symbols of the Season" on Thursday, Dec. 19, in the Elementary School Gym at 7pm. Songs included in the program are Winter Wonderland. Frostv the Snowman. Symbols of the Season. I'm Gettin' Nothin' for Christmas. Deck the Halls. Rudolph. Jolly Old St. Nicholas. and more.
Everyone is welcome to attend either or both programs.
"Walk-About-Huntley" This Saturday

The Huntley Penguins Snow¬ mobile Club annual "Walk-About- Huntley" poker walk is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, 1996. Starting time is at 6:30pm and check in place is at P.R.Parrots. There is a $5.00 enU"y fee at check in time. The stops will be posted at P.R. Parrots by 11:00pm. This year the club will be donating 50% of the proceeds to the Barney Manning Scholarship Fund. This event is open to the public, so dress warm and come join us in the fun.
The State of Illinois has proclaimed the week of Dec. 8-12, 1996 as Illinois Snowmobile Safety Awareness week. The Huntley Penguin Snowmobile Club would like to remind fellow snowmobilers that safe snowmobiling means riding with your own capabilities, operating at safe and appropriate speeds for terrain, and never drink alcoholic beverages before or while driving. Always wear a helmet and adequate clothing, stay within the designated riding areas and always snowmobile with another person,
never ride alone.
The Huntley Penguins Snowmobile Club is always looking for new members to join their club. The membership fee is only $25.00 per family per year. The only thing we require is proof of liability insurance. The Penguins meet the first and third Tuesday of the month at the American Legion Hall in Huntley at 8:00pm. Come and learn all you can about being a responsible snowmobiler, keep safety as your top priority, but most importantly, always use common sense and keep a clear head.
Trail boss. Herb Glissendorf would like to thank all the club members who helped mark trails over Thanksgiving weekend. The majority of the trails are marked. The club would like to remind fellow snowmobilers to please stay on all marked tfails only and most important trails are not officially open unless there are four or more inches of snow on the ground.
Let's have a safe snowmobile season around here.
Huntley Team Places 7th in Nationals
Hundey High School's Nursery and Landscape judging team took 7th place in the nation at the National FFA Convention in Kansas City in November. Team members Denise Archambeault, Pat Peterson and Amanda Sartel were the only team representing Illinois in the national competition. They achieved this honor when they took first place in the Illinois State Competition last spring. The team is coached by the high school's agriculture science teacher Chet Nelson.
Christmas Bells Aid Children at First Church
One of the lovely Christmas traditions of First Congregational Church of Hundey centers around their Christmas Bells.
Many years ago there were many special needs of children of the church that couldn't be met without some special offerings. It was decided to have a special offering each Christmas for the children. From this came the idea behind the bells. Instead of just another special offering, it was decided to try and make this a memorable offering. For each gift to the Christmas Bell Fund, bells are sent out for the contributors to put dieir names on the bells. Then the bells are used to decorate the Christmas trees in the sanctuary.

TLC Book Fair This Week
Hundey Trinity Lutheran Church TLC Preschool Scholastic Book Fair will run through Thursday, Dec. 12, 9am-3pm. Come to browse or purchase books for preschooler through elementary school level readers. Books also make excellent Christmas gifts.
