Two days of celebrating marked the open house for new businesses at Huntley Center on Route 47, home for Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Huntley Floral, Huntley Travel and Huntley Country Copy. Ribbon cutting ceremonies were attended by more than twenty officials, with Huntley Village President James Dhamer cutting the ribbon.

The grand opening of the new
stores at the Huntley Center
was a success last weekend.
Huntley's Village President,
James Dhamer, cut the ribbon
at 10am on Saturday, to
welcome the businesses with
the Chamber's official "red
carpet" rolled out. Several
chamber board members were
present, including President
Wade Runge, Vice President Pat
Bieszki, Secretary Bernice
Bakley and Directors Kevin
Daleiden, John Frieburg and
Steve DeQuaker. Huntley Travel
(Bernice Bakley, owner),
Huntley Floral (Deb and Mark
Schmidt, owners), Huntley
Country Copy (Bill Zeman,
owner) and the Huntley Chamber
of Commerce (Cathy DeQuaker,
Executive Director) celebrated
the move into new quarters. Each business had a raffie
prize drawing during the two-day event. Louie Doty won 2 Amtrak tickets to New Orleans, Cheryl Dodson won 2 tickets on United Air Lines and Carol Thomas won 2 tickets on American Airlines, all sponsored by Huntley Travel. Tori Polonitza and Carol Rogman each won a $25 gift certificate good on services from Huntley Country Copy. Irma Jescke and Jerry Nepermann won a $25 gift certificate each from Huntley Floral.
The Chamber wishes these businesses much success and would like to welcome them to Huntley. A big thank you goes to the Elgin Organization of Huntley for their donation of coffee and all the trimmings for the 2-day event.

Miss Huntley Heads For County Pageant
Miss Huntley, Denise Mercuri, (back row, left) joined twelve other Miss McHenry County contestants for preliminaries on Wednesday, July 13, at Seven Acres in Union. Contestants were interviewed by the judges and were introduced to the press in formal gowns and swimsuits. The pageant for final judging will be held at 7:30pm on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the McHenry County Fair in Woodstock. The public is invited to attend the pageant and show support for their favorite candidate (Miss Huntley, of course).
