He will arrive at 1:00 pm at the Recreation Center in Deicke Park aboard a shiny red fire truck, courtesy of the Huntley Fire Department. Boys and girls of ail ages are invited to attend this free celebration of Christmas! You won't want to miss seeing Santa, singing songs, eating refreshments and seeing all of your friends. Deicke Park is located on South Route 47 in Huntley. For additional information call the Park Disn-ict at (847) 669-3180. Christmas Handbell Concert Dec 15 The First Congregational Church of Huntley's Handbell Choirs will be presenting their annual Christmas Handbell Concert on Sunday, December 15 At 7pm in the Fellowship Hall of the church. First Congregational Church is located at the comer of Church and Main Street in Huntley. This casual gathering will be sure to get you in the Christmas spirit. Listen to holiday songs like, Away In A Manger, The Friendly Beasts, Christmas Carrillon, Song of Angles and of Course Rudolph, The Red Nosed a Reindeer, while you enjoy cookies _ and wassails. Group songs are performed by the church's four handbell choirs. There will be solos on handbells and other instruments as well as some vocal solos. Special performances will be given by Alan Cole, Tracy Frihart, Joel Ahrendt, Larry Warrington and Rose Tazewell, who will recite "Old Times". As you enter the church through the door on the East side, you will be greeted by the choir's band playing a selection of Christmas songs. This will be an evening of fun, fellowship, music and the celebration of Christ's birth. Huntley Factory Shops Offers Entertainment for Holiday Shoppers The Huntley Factory Shops Food Court will feature lunchtime entertainment for weekend holiday shoppers. Saturday, Dec. 14 11-11:35-am Zion Baptist Church Choir 12:30-lpm Morning Star Church Choir 1-1:30pm The Minutemen of Harmony. Sunday, Dec. 22 l-2pm The Bell Choir of Trinity Lutheran Church. As a part of the Huntley Factory Shops holiday music showcase series, the Elgin Minutemen of Harmony, (a barbershop chorus) will perform in the interior food court area on Saturday, December 14, from l-l:30pm. In the chorus photo, Huntley residents Carl Hill (2nd row, 3rd from left) and Elden Pfaff (3rd row, 3rd from right) are pictured. The chorus will offer a mixed program of Christmas carols arranged in barbershop style as well as straight barbershop numbers. For further information about the Minutemen of Harmony, you may call the chorus manager, Marv Jedicker, at 847/639-3459. Harvesters 4-H Decorate the Square ByJanHoeft On Dec. 5, the Huntley Harvestors 4-H Club decorated the Town Square Gazebo. This is the third year we have provided this service to the village and we have alot of fun doing it. As the decorations go up, so does a snowman or two, and we always end up in a snowball fight. We hope Huntiians enjoy the decorations as much as we enjoy supplying them and putting them up. Continued on Page 4 Elementary School Programs Scheduled Huntley Elementary Schools have announced their seasonal winter programs. "This is Your Life Santa Claus" will be presented by the 4th and 5th graders at 7:30pm on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in the Elementary School Gym. Featured characters will be Ralph Ledwards, Pierre the travel agent, the reindeer rappers, and many others from Santa's past. Some of the songs you will hear are: Deck the Halls, ft Came Upon a Midnight Clear and Santa You're Fat. Kindergarten and second grade music classes will present their winter program "Symbols of the Season" on Thursday, Dec. 19, in the Elementary School Gym at 7pm. Songs included in the program are: Winter Wonderland, Frosty the Snowman, Symbols of the Season, I'm Gettin Nothin for Christmas, Deck the Halls, Rudolph, Jolly Old St. Nicholas^ and more. Everyone is welcome to attend either or both programs. TLC Christmas Programs The TLC Preschool of Trinity Lutheran Church in Huntley will present their student Christmas programs Dec. 17, 18 & 19. On Dec. 17, at 6:30pm, the 4-year-old students will perform. The kindergarten children will perform on Dec 18 at 6:30pm. On Dec. 19, at 12:30pm, the 3-year-old's program will be presented. The public is invited to come enjoy any of the productions. 4-H ers Place Fifth in Nationals Amanda Sartell of Huntley Pioneers 4-H Club and Megan Sunderlage of Huntley Harvestors 4-H Club served on the horticulture identification judging team for Illinois in the National Junior Horticulture Association Annual Meeting and Contests held in Dallas, TX. Illinois placed fifth out of 15 teams in the 4-H division. Amanda placed 10th in the top ten individual scores. While at the convention, delegates participated in horticulture work¬ shops, tours and recreation. The Illinois 4-H Foundation provided the financial support for the delegates to attend this contest.
