McHenry Savings Bank robbed
Huntley police officers apprehend suspect

On May 19, 1995, the McHemy Savings Bank, located in theHuntley Square along Rl. 47, was robbed.
Frank Eric Reed, 20, of Crystal Lake, has been charged with the robbery, accordingtoFBI Special Agent William D. Branon.
Reed entered the bank at 4:35p.m. and allegedly presented the teller with a demand note. He implied that he had a weapon, although none was seen duringthe robbery.
Reed is fiirther alleged to have stepped behind theteller counter and cleaned out atelier's cash drawer, according to a statement released by tl^e FBI in conjunction with the Huntley and McHenry police departments and theMcHemy County Sheriffs office.
After taking the money, Reed ran out ofthe bankandfledinhiscar. The <,^]jnk alleges that $2,830.00was taken. _^ A bank employee notified the Huntley police. Officers David Lynn and Todd Fulton responded, according to Acting Police Chief Michael Hewitt. Hewitt responded a
few minutes later.
A pursuit began, with the suspect heading east on Algonquin Road. The car chase ended near Lakewood at BardRoadandMuirfield Drive, after Reed's car's engine broke down.
Reed then fled on foot and was apprehended by the Huntley police officers within five minutes.
The McHenry County Sheriffs Office and Crystal Lake and Lakewood police departments assisted in the pursuit.
Reed was taken into custody and transported to the Huntley police department.
Huntley police notified the FBI, who responded to the scene. Custody of Reed was then tumed over to the FBI.
Reed has admitted to robbing the McHenry Savings Bank, according to the federal complaint filed before U. S. Magistrate Judge P. Michael Mahoney.
All but several hundred dollars ofthe stolen money has been recovered. The missing money blew away during the car chase.
The McHenry Savings Bank, located in the Huntley Center, was robbed on Friday May 19.
Huntley Memorial Day parade planned
The annual Memorial Day parade, sponsored by the Huntley American Legion, will be held Monday, May 29.
Organizations, vehicles, floats or anyone interested in being part ofthe parade should contact Bob Eckman at 669-5754. Please leave a message if there is no answer.
The parade lineup will begin north of the Huntley Post Office on
Woodstock St.
Parade members must be there before 10am.
The parade leaves the Huntley American Legion at 10:30am and makes its way around the Town Square to Church St., turns onto Mill St., then turns and follows Dean St. to the Huntley Cemetery.
At the cemetery, Rev. Richard Anderson will perform a
special rendition of the Gettysburg Address, presented by the Hunfley Public Library. The public is welcome to observe from any location on the parade route.
Memorial Day ceremonies will begin at the cemetery at approximately Ham.
Luncheon is served at the Huntley American Legion Hall following the ceremonies.

The event will be held in Deicke Park on Saturday, June 3 beginning at 10am.

A drawing will be held for prizes also. Check-in time for the Bike-A-Thon is 9:30.
