Huntley students' artwork chosen for regional arts competition

Four junior high and four high school students fromHuntley District 158's art programs have had artwork selected for the North Suburban Illinois Regional Scholastic Art ContestheldatRandhurstMall. Their pieces were on display from Feb. 11
through Feb. 18, with an opening reception for students on the 11th.
Of the 32 pieces of artwork entered by the junior high, four were chosen by the judges to place in the show. From these four, drawings by daren Crabill and Jason Szatkowski were awarded silver keys.
The junior high students who placed
were; Grade 7: Michelle Lillibridge (painting), Jason Szatkowski (drawing) Grade 8: Daren Crabill (drawing), Kyle Williams (ceramics).
Ofthe 36 pieces of artwork entered by the high school, four were also chosen to place.
The high school studentswho placed were: Ty Barton (drawing), Casey
Reeves (drawing), Katie Stramaglia (drawing) and Misty Welch (drawing.)
OnFeb. 15, contestant entrants and and an advanced high school art class traveled to Randhurst to view the Scholastic Arts competition.
Huntley vehicle sticker deadline approaches
The deadline for displaying the 1996 Village of Huntley vehicle stickers is Feb. 29,1996.
The following sticker fees apply: Passenger: $8.00, Trucks 3/4 ton or less $10.00, Trucks in excess of 3/4 ton $15.00, Motorcycles $6.00, Snowmobiles $6.00. Beginning March 1, 1996, a $5.00 per sticker per month late fee will apply.
The Huntley Village Hall, located at 11704 Coral St., Huntley, is open Mon.-Fri., 8:00am4:30pm. They will also have extended hours on Sat., Feb. 24 from 9:00am-12:00pm. For more information, contact the Village Hall at (847)669-9600.
Park District offers Parents' Time Off
The Huntley Park District is giving overworked parents a break with the Parents' Time Off program. On Tuesdays and Thursdays from ll:00am-2:30pm and Fridays from 9:00am-noon, children can play, make crafts and have fun at the Park District, while parents can take some time for themselves. The program costs $8.25 per session for one child. Reduced rates apply for additional children. Registration is necessary. For more information, call the District at (847)669-3180.
