^inal phase ofHuntiey Industrial Condominiums begins
Construction on the final phase of a $2.3 million industrial condominium building in Huntley began Oct. 10 with ground-breaking ceremonies at the site, located in the 48-acre Bernat Industrial Center at Rt. 47, two miles north of 1-90.
Huntley village officials and developer George Bernat were joined by the project's architect, general contractor and financing represent¬ ative in ceremonial activities anticipatingtheDec. 1995 completion of the 51,300-square-foot, single- story industrial structure.
According to Huntley Mayor James Dhamer, the demand for industrial space in the area is increasing as more companies look to take
advantage of Huntley's long-range plans for growth and economic development. Industrial and commercial development is an area of growth McHenry County residents also welcome, according to a recent survey conducted by the McHenry County Economic Development Corp.
"We're very excited to provide much-needed facilities to the community, the county and area businesses," notes George Bernat, president of Barrington Hills-based Bernat Development Company, developer of the project. Mayor Dhamer adds the project will also "improve     the     community's
employment opportun-ities and commercial tax base."
The nine-unit building will be constructed of decorative, precast masonry with a combination of steel and glass facade accents. Other features include skylights, energy- effecient construction, professional landscaping, underground utilities, ample parking, drive-in doors and individual loading docks. Available unit space ranges from 2,500 to 20,000 square feet and may be leased, purchased or leased with an option to buy.

Planning Commission presents meeting minutes
The Huntley Towers mall and the Kane County Land Plan were two ofthe issues discussed Mt the Village of Huntley Planning Commission meeting on Oct 9.
The regular meeting ofthe Planning Commission was called to order at 7:00pm by Chairman Rohlwing.
Administrator Nelis presented a background ofthe proposed project. This is planned as a one-story center. The site plan was reviewed. The number of parking spaces match the building. This has to be a PUD (as with Subway) because of the 6-ft. rear yard. They are giving an extra 10 feet of right-of-way and providing a 10-foot grass buffer in front. There
will be no parking spaces in front; parking will be on the north and south ends. No restaurants are proposed. A fence will be needed to protect the homeowners. Deliveries would be at the side ofthe building (as with Subway.)

Huntley Farmside mourns loss of Karen Kohley

Karen Kohley has been synonymous with the Huntley Farmside for almost 10 years, in many capacities. Whether visiting her in the office or meeting her somewhere in Huntley, people knew Karen would handle their Farmside needs.
Everyone who met Karen was struck by her friendly, outgoing nature and her fiin-loving, giving personality. All ofthe Farmside staff through the years have found it a joy to work with
r. She will be dearly missed at the farmside and throughout the community.
While devastated by the loss of a vital member ofthe team, The Huntl^ Farmside will continue its service to thecommunity. Obituary
Karen Kotiley
Karen Kohley, 53, of Huntley, advertising director of the Huntley Farmside, died Thursday in the Memorial Medical Center in Woodstock. She was born in Chicago, and she formerly lived in the Naperville and Aurora areas before moving to Huntley 25 years ago. Karen was a trustee ofthe Huntley Area Public Library District since its inception, and she founded the Huntley Nursery School program, which she operated for more than 10 years. She was an active member ofthe Lioness, and in the past held the positions of treasurer, vice president, president. She was currentlyserving as secretary. In 1982-83 shewasvoted Lioness ofthe Year, and she was a regular staffer and player at the Lioness Bingo. She was also the Chamber Director of the Huntley Chamber of Commerce in its charter year.
Karen is survived by her husband, Richard; three daughters, Nancy Ehrke, Paula and Laura Kohley; her mother, Ruth Augsburg; three brothers and two sisters. Visitation was held Oct. 15 at the O'Connor Funeral Home in Huntley. Mass was held Oct. 16 at St. Marj' Catholic Church in Huntley. Burial was in the church cemetery.
