Village Board Special Meeting Tonight
There will be a special meeting of the Village of Huntley Board of Trustees, tonight, Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Village Annex at 11221 Dundee Road.
The purpose of the meeting is to consider restructure of the TIF District bond debt.
Spring Clean-Up Saturday and Sunday
Huntley residents can dump their garbage and basement junk this weekend during the village's annual "Spring Clean Up".
Dumpsters will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 1996, and Sunday, May 19, 1996, at the public works building, 11415 E. Main Street.
In addition, a public works employee will be on hand to show equipment and facilities to interested residents.'
Residents can dump anything except yard waste, white products (appliances), liquid products and hazardous waste. Public Works Director, Jim Schwartz, warns residents that they should dump only between allotted times, not before the dumpsters are in place or after ihey are removed. No one should attempt to climb into a dumpster.
Hot Air Balloon To Visit Huntley School
^ On Friday, May 17 a 75 foot ^fk'. Air Balloon will be tethered at iiie football field in front of the HunUey Elementary School.
RE/MAX Tri-County, located at 377 Virginia Street in Crystal Lake and Tom Jurs RE/MAX broker-associate from Huntley will sponsor a Hot Air Balloon Program and Slide show at the Huntley Elementary School beginning at 8:30 a.m. They invite you to visit the football field for a closer look at the balloon.

"Celebrate Your Pets" Contest Winners Announced

Dr. Jane Stimac, of Huntley Veterinary Hospital, awarded prizes to the winners in the "Celebrate Your Pets" Drawing Contest she sponsored for Pet Week. Prize winners were (1 to r) Front Row: Steven Artica, David Worst, Ryan Knot, Caiti Palmer, Courtney Wombough; Middle Row: Kevin Ziller, Daniel Worst, Margaret Alecesto, Ryan Mallegni, Melissa Lownik, Chris Stuve; Back Row: Jenna Montanye, Bryana Shergold, Joey Scime, Alex Kowalski, Matthew McMahon, Joelle Chauncey.
The "Celebrate Your Pets" Art Contest was a huge success, with over 200 entries.
The contest was judged by local freelance artists Theresa Darby, April ReidI and Kalhy Miller. In addition to freelance art (including book illustrations), Mrs. Darby teaches a watercolor class at the Huntley Park District. Miss ReidI does freelance watercolor and is currently studying computer animation. Miss Miller also does freelance work with an emphasis on photography and cakes. Calligraphy on the winners certificates was also done by Kathy Miller. The Huntley Veterinary Hospital would especially like to thank our judges for their time and effort in judging the contest.
The winners were announced at the Huntley Grade School May 9. Dr Stimac presented the grand prize awards to Jenna Montanye in the 3-5 grade division and Melissa Lownik in the K-2 grade division.
Joey Scime and Daniel Worst were the 1st and 2nd runner-ups respectively in the 3-5 division. In the K-2 division, Caiti Palmer and Kevin Ziller were the 1st and 2nd runner-ups respectively. With so many entries, we decided lo also award honorable mentions to the entries which made it lo the finals. In the 3-5 division, honorable mention went to Alex Kowalski, Matthew McMahon, Bryana Shergold and Chris Stuve. In the K-2 division, honorable mention went to Margaret Alcesto, Steven Artica, Joelle Chauncey, Ryan Knot, Ryan Mallegni, Courtney Wombough and David Worst.
The grand prize of a portrait with your pet was donated by H. Walter Portraits. Runner-ups received a choice of a "Circle of Love" t-shirt or pet grooming at Shampooch & Kitty II.
All participants received a pencil, bookmark and certificate of participation. We hope everyone remembered their pets during pet
week and continue to treat them lovingly throughout the year!
Winning drawings can be seen throughout the month of May at the Huntley Veterinary Hospital.
Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to all who participated and helped wilh the contest.
Join in The Memorial Day Parade
The Huntley Memorial Day Parade will be held May 27, starting at 10:30am.
A Memorial Day ceremony will be held al the cemetery following the parade. Luncheon will be served at the legion hall after the ceremony.

Fine Arts Festival In Huntley on Sunday May 19
Huntley School District 158 will present the 1996 Fine Arts Festival next Sunday, May 19 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Grade School.
The annual Art show will exhibit over 800 works from students of Huntley Elementary, Middle School, and High School. All elementary students will have a piece shown. All choruses and bands will be holding concerts throughout the afternoon.
The Middle School will present the play "Little Jackie and the Beanstalk" at 1:00
Admission is free.
Firemen Collect $1270 for Burn Camp

The members of Huntley Fire Protection District would like to thank all those residents who supported our "Fill the Boot" campaign.
We would especially like to thank the local businesses for their cooperation. On May 10-11 the collecting firefighters were located in front or inside (because of inclement weather) these areas. They were stationed at Union 76, Speedway, Harris Bank, Huntley Supermarket, Huntley Court, Post Office, and Huntley Factory Shq}S Mall.
The Huniley Firefighters were able to collect $1270 which will be used to finance the "Bum Camp" on June 23-29, 1996. Bum victims between 8-16 years of age will have a chance to gain self-confidence and be with kids that also have serious bums. Bum camp staff includes Doctors, Nurses, Social Workers, Physical and Occupational Therapists, and fire personnel that volunteer their time.
