l^ds run for fun at Homestead Days
Huntley's young athletes competed Saturday in the Homestead Days' Kids Fun Run, where 22 runners vied for seven prize categories. The Reebok store at the Huntley Factory Shops donated key chains for all of the participants, and each first-place participant also received a gift certificate for a free pair of shoes.
In the 7-and-under age category, Heidi Rechsteiner placed first, Kiel Mueller placed second and Michael Sinnot placed third. In the 8-12 age categorj', John Wiedl placed first, Daniel Wiedl placed second and Alison Smith placed third. All participants gave it their all and ran well.
After the race, the participants eagerly drank the lemonade that was provided by Bemice Bakley and Huntley Travel. The staff for the event was provided by B & K Power Equipment. The Huntley Chamber of Commerce sponsored both the race and Huntley Homestead Days.
Harris Bank donates stuffed lion
The Harris Bank of Huntley donated a Harris lion
bank to the Huntley Senior Citizens Club last
month. Emerson Fell won the bank, which was
given away through a drawing.
Village Planning Board meets, presents minutes
The Henry Drive vacant lots and the Mercuri — Main St. Subdivision were two of the issues discttssed at the Village Planning Commission meeting on August 14, 1995.
^^Theregular meeting of the Planning Commission was called to order at 7:02pm by Chairman Rohlwing. Present were Commissioners Daum, Brown, Domagalski, Hahn, Schachtner, and Borchart. Also present were Mayor Dhamer and Administrator Nelis. Minutes of July 10. 1995 The minutes are corrected to read as follows: Page 5, Mercuri-Main Street project: Roll call: Brown voted nay. MOTION  by   Brown,   second
Borchart, to approve the minutes with the above noted correction. Vote:aye, all. Motion carried. Henry Drive Vacant Lots Ms. Tricia Clancy of Windsor Realty was present, representing Mr. & Mrs. Zimmerman and Mr. &Mrs. Nichols.
Ms. Clancy distributed an aerial plan and sketch ofthe proposed drive to the Commission. Ms. Clancy said that Mr. & Mrs. Zimmerman own the property - Lot 7 on Henry Court. Mr. & Mrs.Nichols would like to purchase the property to build a single-family residence and put a private driveway down the right-of- way.
Ms. Clancy stated that the Zirks own the other lot and they are in favor ofthis happening.
Ms. Clancy said that the Village had allowed a similar situation on Carol Court (a driveway on the right- of-way).
Mr. Nelis stated that there are three alternatives: 1. Vacate the street and allow two lots with a common driveway. 2. Be allowed to build the driveway under a contract with the Village. There would have to be a Hold Harmless Agreement. 3.Be required to build the street. Henry Court could provide a second access.
Ms. Clancy said the owners ofthe adjacent lots are Lot 9 & 10, the Zirks; Lot 8, Dave & Laura Seaquist to Mary E. Bakley as of 8-15. There is sewer and water to Henry Court.
MOTION by Borchart that (1) the owners of Lots 7 & 10 would be
allowed to use Henry Court as a private driveway; (2) they would sign a "Hold Harmless Agreement"; (3) thel2-ft.-wide driveway would be paved; (4) there would bea ""T" at the end; (5) they would pay their portion of one-half of a street if and when a street is built; and (6) if sewer and water are run, these lots would then tap in a recapture. The motion was seconded by Brown. Roll call: Daum voted nay; Brown, Domagalski, Hahn, Schachtner, Borchart, and Rohlwing voted all ayes. Motion carried. MERCURI - MAIN ST. SUBDIVISION
Mr. Mercuri distributed his conceptual plan to the Commission. Mr. Mercuri said his original plan
called for 8 single-family lots. The plan is now at 7 single-family and 1 six-flat lots. He said it looks like he will lose Lot #4. Mr. Mercuri agreed to put in an 8" service line to the property. Mr. Nelis asked the depth ofLot6. Itwas determined to be 66.8' and would, therefore, need a variation. Mr. Nelis asked the justification for a six-flat on Lot 1. Mr. Mercuri said for appearance and there is an eight-flat next door. MOTlONby Brown thatthisproject be tabled until Mr. Mercuri has had further discussion and review \vith Mr.Nelis.
