^h %ml{vo Jamsik USPS 580-360 THURSDAY, MAY 4, 1989 VOLUME 29-NUMBER 5 OFFICE PHONE 312-669-5621 SERVING THE PEOPLE OF HUNTLEY SINCE 1960 25{ per copy Minutes Of Village Board The Regular Meeting of April 13, 1989 was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall and was called to order by the President at 8:00 pm. Present were President Dhamer, Trustees Wicke, Borowicz, Brown, Greve, Hoeft, Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel and members of the Police Department. The minutes of March 9, 1989 were the first order of business. A motion was made by Trustee Greve to approve these as written, seconded by Trustee Brown, and upon roll call, there were all ayes and they stood approved. The financial reports were put before the Board and found to be in order. A motion was made by Trustee Wicke, seconded by Trustee Hoeft, to accept the Treasurer's Report as submitted and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye and the motion carried. Current expenses were presented to the Board for their permission to pay. A motion was made by Trustee Wicke, seconded by Trustee Brown, to approve payment of said submitted bills and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye, the motion carried, and the Clerk was instructed to pay same. A listing is attached as part of these minutes. The first order of discussion/action was the Bakley 13th and 7th matters. Mr. Ken Bakley made a presentation as: he has a piece of property already annexed into the village which is called the 7th Addition. He needs rezoning of the 7th Addition and also the Board must vote on bringing in the 2.3 acres into the village and vote on accepting the Preliminary Plat of the 13th Addition. Lots 1, 2 and 3 of the 7th Addition are zoned as R 1 and he is asking that they be reclassified to R 3, duplex lots. In addition to that. Lot 15 in the 6th Addition, which is zoned R 1, will also need to be reclassified as R 3. In addition. Lot 5 of the 7th Addition, which is now called Lot 2, needs to be Continued on page 9 Eagle Scouts Donate Projects Tim Lombard stands next to the Concession Stand that he built for his Eagle Scout project. It is located in 01' Timer's Park and is being used during the soccer games. Mike Wilson presented 6 picnic tables to the Huntley Park District. Mike built the tables from lumber he got from tearing down an old barn. The tables are located in 01' Timer's Park. Lioness Plan Caramel Corn Day Lionesses will be out for contributions on Friday, May 5 and Saturday, May 6, but they won't be out for blood. It's all part of Lioness Caramel Corn Day and contributions will be accepted. In return, Lionesses will distribute bags of caramel corn. Caramel Corn Day, a basic part of Lioness programs in support of the blind and visually handicapped, will witness club members, augmented by hundreds of volunteers, working in communities across the state; "It's almost impossible for sighted and hearing persons to fully comprehend what it's like to be blind or deaf, but they can help through their support of Caramel Corn Day to make the lives of the blind and deaf worthwhile," said Lioness Marlene Selpien, Carmen Corn Day Chairperson. In Huntley, Caramel Com Day, which is part of a Statewide fundraising program coordinated by the Lions of Illinois Foundation, River Forest, will be held Friday, May 6 and Sat., May 6, 1989. At the last meeting of the Park Board of Commissioners, Saturday, April 8, Tim Lombard and Mike Wilson presented their Eagle Scout Projects to the Huntley Park District. Tim built a concession stand and Mike built 6 picnic tables. The Board accepted their projects gratefully. Both the concession stand and the tables are being used at Ol' Timer's Park. Both Tim and Mike spent a minimum of 50 hours coordinating the project plus 100 hours of man power building them. The scouts raised donations or used money they raised themselves for the projects. We wish both Tim and Mike the best of luck in their endeavors. mini Girl State Tea McHenry County Council of the American Legion Auxiliary held an Illini Girls State Tea on Sunday, April 39, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Huntley Post Home. Seven Units sent their delegates and alternates. The delegates will be attending the 49th Annual Illini Girls State sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of Illinois, at Eastern Illinois University at Charleston, Illinois, June 11 - 17, 1989. other guests attending the Tea were McHenry County President Dorothy Messer of McHenry, relatives and friends of these girls. Girl State Chairman of each Unit, and Becky Friese and Lisa otto, 1988 Illini Girl Staters of Crystal Lake. County Girl State Chairman May Chesak, Becky and Lisa gave much information about Illini Girls State to those present. After an informative hour, coffee, punch arid cookies were served. Becky and Lisa sat with the 1989 delegates and alternates as they enjoyed refreshments, showing them their beautiful personal 1988 scrapbooks, happy reminders of their exciting week at Illini Girls State in 1988. As the guests left, they expressed appreciation for an interesting and informative afternoon hearing about Illini Girls State.
