Old Gazebo Vs. New Gazebo, Wiiich Way To Go?

It's kind of like that post office dilemma over the Elvis stamp. Should they use the younger, healthier Elvis Presley who wore a suit jacket and skinny tie in his early day.s of "Love Me Tender"? Or should they use the older, overweight Elvis wearing thai Las Vegas-style diamond-studded white jumpsuit singing "Hunka Hunka Burning Love"? So the administrative officials of the Village of Huntley find themselves in a similar dilemma over the reconstruction of the Town Square Gazebo.

was razed last November was not the same gazebo that was built circa the early 1900's. The roof was replaced just five years ago and the replacement was pitched differently than the original. The metal railings as well as the cement block enclosures lor each column were new additions since the original construction of the gazebo. Old photos of the gazebo show a flatter roof, probably cedar shake; wooden, spoke railings, and full-length wooden columns, possibly even square columns. In addition, there are other

Village Board Discusses TIF II, Zoning, Rebuilding Gazebo, Receives Comments
The Feb. 10. 1994 regular meeting of the Village Board of Trustees was held in the board room of the Village Hall and called to order by President Dhamer at 7:05pm. Roll noted the following present: President Dhamer, Trustees Becker. Borowicz. Eckel. Shamhart, Sheehan and Todd. Also attending were Administrator Nelis, Village Attorney Kukla, Police Chief Rossi (arrived at 8:05pm). Public Works Director Schwartz, Building Engineer Ehrke and Village Engineer Schwegel. Minutes
President Dhamer asked that the minutes from the Jan. 27, 1994 regular board meeting be reviewed and approved. Trustee Eckel made the motion to approve the minutes as presented; seconded by Trustee Shamhart. The voice vote noted all ayes except for Trustee Sheehan who abstained. The motion carried.
While the minutes were being reviewed. Trustee Becker asked what costs were involved to set up TIF II. Attorney Kukla
responded that though he didn't know all the costs involved, he spoke to Chris Knight (Village Consultant) who said Ihat lo look over the documentation (not including engineering) the costs would be $3,000-$5,000. It was decided al that point to discuss it in greater detail later in the meeting. Bill List Approval It was requested that the invoices for DWK and Attorney Kukla's traffic invoice be held out. The trustees questioned various sections of the Baxter & Woodman invoice regarding the Well and Village Engineer Schwegel gave details to all questions. Trustee Eckel requested a more detailed invoice from Baxter & Woodman. Trustee Sheehan commented that Prime will come back at a future date for this Baxter & Woodman invoice to be TIF eligible and the way that the invoice is set up the Village won't know what it is for. A discrepancy was found in the total amount of the Baxter & Wcwdman invoice and Administrator Nelis will check

.After further review of the other invoices. Trustee Sheehan made a motion to approve all invoices except for the invoices from DWK. Michael F. Kukla. Ltd. and two invoices from Northwest 'Truck and Auto; seconded by Trustee Shamhart. The roll call noted all ayes and the motion carried.
Trustee Borowicz made a motion lo approve the invoices from Northwest Truck and Auto for $20.07 and $5.35; seconded by Trustee Becker. The roll call noted Trustees Becker. Borowicz, Shamhart and Todd voted aye: Trustee Sheehan voted nay; and Trustee Eckel abstained. The motion carried. Trustee Eckel made a motion to approve the invoice from DWK with the deduction of five invoices as the village will pay them directly; seconded by Trustee Shamhart. The voice vote noted all ayes and the motion carried. Davis Kennedy, the president of DWK, was present and agreed to the deduction of the five invoices from his Invoice to be paid
directly.
Administrator Nelis distributed the traffic invoice from Michael F. Kukla, Ltd. and explained that the reason this invoice is being presented to the board this evening is due to the police chief's busy schedule. Trustee Eckel made a motion to table the traffic invoice from Michael V. Kukla, Ltd.: seconded by Trustee Todd.
Accounting Reports
Trustee Eckel questioned the overage in the President and Trustee E^xpense Account of 31.9%. President Dhamer explained that the account also included two dinners, a memorial donation, the holiday ad in the newspaper to the village residents and the mayor's phone. Trustee Eckel requested an itemized account of all payments.
As the trustees questioned the variance percentages for many of the accounts. Trustee Sheehan suggested that the budget reflect the month that the revenues come in for a more accurate statement.
