For the past 24 years the First Congregrational Church of Huntley has been having an annual dinner/variety show. Of course, 1989 is no exception - this year being their 25th Anniversary Year. The annual "Hobo Show" was held on Friday, Feb. 24 and on Sat., Feb. 25. The meal of delicious beef stew, potatoes, salad, bread and dessert was served family style in foil plates on used newspaper placemats. If you didn't get enough to eat, it was your own fault because there was plenty of food. Once your stomach was full, the unique show began. This year the Hobo Clan decided to go on a cruise for their 25th Anniversary celebration. But with no money to be had, the Hobos had to stow away on the cruise ship. Before long, they were discovered and, to pay their passage, they became the ship's "entertainment crew". The evening was filled with delightful skits, jokes and songs of all kinds. Several door prizes were presented and Hobo bags were received by all who attended. Sincere congratulations to everyone in the Hobo Show for a superb jobi Also, many thanks to each and everyone who had anything to do with this ever-popular Hobo Show! The dinner and show was a big success. Happy 25th Anniversary! Minutes Of A Special Meeting Of Village Board A Special Meeting was held on Saturday, February 11, 1989, in the Village Board Room for the purpose of final decision on funding of the Sewer Treatment Plant Expansion and awarding of construction contract for same, as well as selecting a fourth member to the Cemetery Board. President Dhamer brought the meeting to order at 12:00 pm. Present were President Dhamer, Trustees Wicke, Greve, Borowicz, Brown and Hoeft. Also present were Attorney Kukla, Village Auditor North and Jeff Mohler, Engineer for Baxter and Woodman. Mary Lou Hardy Clerk Half-Time Entertainment The Huntley Jr. High Girls Basketball teams played against St. Mary's of Elgin on Friday evening, Feb. 24, in the Huntley Grade School Gym. Now normally half-time intermission just ticks away, but this particular evening some unusual entertainment had been arranged for the audience's pleasure. "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" was the song which several 7th and 8th graders performed to during the 6th grade girls game. Six 7th and 8th grade boys performed their talents to "Two Faces Have Eyes" during the 7th/8th grade game half-time intermission. All those students who had a part in these two performances of the evening were just great. We thank you for the "delightful" breaks in a tension-filled evening of basketball. Jr. High boys performed during the half time intermission at the Jr. High Girls basketball game on Friday Feb. 24. The six boys include: Front-Scott Fox. Back Row-Mike Thackwray, Caleb Kittel, Derek Brettman, Christ Felde, and Dan Origer.
