Harris Bank board chairman Miller retires; Hardy to replace
Wayne M. Miller, Chainnan of the Board of Harris Bank Huntley, has announced his retirement.
Miller began his career with the bank, then State Bank of Huntley, in 1960. In 1961, Miller was appointed to serve on the board of directors, and in 1968 he was named President of the bank.
In 1982,MillerhelpedformHuntley Bancshares, Inc., a holding company comprised of various local business people who successfully acquired ownership of the bank.
Huntley Chamber's DeQuaker resigns
Cathy DeQuaker, Executive Director of the Huntley Area Chamber ofCommerce and Industry, has announced her resignation after over three years at the Chamber.
DeQuaker started the Chamber in the basement of her home in 1992 and devoted her time to its growth and success.
Her goal to reach 100 members in the Chamber's charter year was obtainedbyDec. 31,1992. Since the begninning, DeQuaker worked to increase the membership by 55%, retaining at least 90% of the members each year.
During her directorship, DeQuaker instituted Huntley's first business expo, showcasing area businesses and service organizations, drawing over 3,000 people to town. Shealso organized such events as Homestead Days, a monthly Chamber news¬ letter and the Remembrance Tree at Christmas.
This year, DeQuaker's project was heading the 1996 Huntley Chamber of Commerce Community Guide. She also began a town tradition by introducing Huntley's first official Christmas ornament, depicting the town gazebo on the front.
DeQuaker has accepted another position in a nearby village effective in mid-Jan. The Chamber will be accepting applications at their new office, located in the lower level of the Harris Baiik Huntley.

through the subsequent acquisition of Suburban Bancorp by Harris Bankmont. Miller retired on Dec. 19, 1995, after 35 years of service with the bank.
Ralph C.Hardy has been appointed to the Chairman of the Board position. Hardy is a partner in the law firm of Ariano, Anderson, Bazos, Hardy and Castillo, with offices in Huntley and Elgin. Hardy has been an active board member of the bank since 1977.
Huntley students continue tradition of greeting soliders

The ongoing Huntley tradition of sending mail to those stationed overseas continued this year when Huntley Grade School classes sent Christmas greetings to American soldiers.
A giant-sized envelope of lovingly- made cards, letters and drawings was sent via military air transport to the troops stationed in Bosnia.
George Gow of Huntley initiated the tradition with Christmas greetings to the troops stationed in the Gulf during the Gulf War. This was followed by Valentine and Easter greetings.
Gow persionally delivered all the greetings to George Hellner, who sees that the packet is delivered to the airport for transport to Bosnia.

Park District raises picnic fees at Dec. meeting
Beginning Jan. 1, 1996, picnic reservation fees at the park will be raised, according to committee reports presented at the Huntley Park District's regular meeting on Dec.
18,1995.
At the meeting, Betsey Warrington also armounced that a computer and software programs had been donated to the park district by Mr. and Mrs.
Noren for use in the children's programs at the Park District.

Grafton Township received many holiday donations
The Grafton Township Pantry received a large amount of donations of food, coats, money and assistance for the needy during the holiday season, according to the minutes of their Dec. 14,1995 meeting.
The Township distributed food
baskets and supplies on Dec. 20, 1995.
Other items discussed at the meeting were the possibility of purchasing a new Township car for use by the Assessor, a storm water management plan prepared by the McHenry
County Storm WaterCommittee, and theassessedvalueof new construction in the past seven years, with 1995
being the highest year.
