Minutes Of Huntley Planning Commission
Library Auction Huge Success
April 10, 1989
The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Planning Commission was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by Chairman Wilmer Rohlwing. Those members of the board present were Ed Domagalski, Jack Daum, Paul Mercer, Robert Schachtner and Ron Hahn. Also present were Mayor Dhamer and Building Inspector Schaller.
Minutes of the March 13, 1989, meeting were read. Mr. Schachtner moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Mr. Domagalski, motion carried. The agenda was read.
Mr. Dennis Bentley of Deans was present. They already have approval for parking lot on lot next to them and have graveled it down last fall. They want to get approval for layout of blacktop and engineering and elevations. There is a letter from Baxter & Woodman which was sent to Deans and also to Inspector Schaller. They must pitch it to run to back of lot along railroad tracks. Lot is 80 X 155.
Mr. Hahn moved to accept any plans our Village Engineer would accept with proper blacktop for Deans. Mr. Domagalski seconded. Roll call vote as follows: Domagalski, aye; Daum, aye; Mercer, aye; Schachtner, pass; Hahn, aye; Rohlwing, aye. There being five (5) ayes and one (1) passing vote, motion carried.
The next order of business was presented by Mr. Don Hoist who presented conceptual plans as explained by his engineer Mr. John Whitehouse. This is a 26 acre parcel with some lots the minimum size of 13,000 square feet up through some lots 22,000 or larger in wooded area. There are the two Hoist residences on the property which would be incorporated into it, one on a three-acre parcel and one on one acre. This is on Huntley-Algonquin Rd. extension to west 1/4 mile which they would like to extend into subdivision. There will be sewer and water. This contiguous to Zimmerman property. There are 37 total lots. The plan shows three dead *nd streets so could be extended in future, the board suggested not having all of these. The frontage on lots is minimum of 90 feet and in cul-de-sac with set backs of 90 feet The Mayor suggested a T-end at one dead end by Union Special westerly edge instead of a cul-de-sac and the board suggested eliminating other dead end into

Thursday, April 13, was the last day of Charles Ruth's official duty as Grafton Township Supervisor, ending a term of 12 years. At the Annual Grafton Township Budget meeting, to show his
personal and the township's appreciation for their years of dedicated service to Grafton Township, Mr. Ruth presented plaques to former trustees: James Ketchmark for 18 years, David Oldham for 16 years, Ronald Pierce for 16 years and Tax Assessor, Robin
Brunschon for 4 years of service.
New township officials, incumbents, family members, friends and other people in attendance also expressed their appreciation to the 5 community-minded residents.
Olive and Chuck Staadt with their load of goodies that they brought to the auction.
The auction for the benefit of the Huntley Library Fund was a huge success. The monetary amount realized was about $10,000.
Happiness is saying a big thank you to the "grand angels".
1. Randy Donnely of Seven Acres Museum, who donated his beautiful hall and his time.
2. Rodney Drendel who donated his time as the auctioneer.
3. All the donators of the items auctioned.
4. The people who attended.
5. Those that helped bring the benefit and library idea into the consciousness of the people.
6. Last, but not least, all the wonderful people who worked very hard getting donations, picking them up and working the day of the auction.
Petitions are now being signed and the referendum will be on the November 4, 1989 ballot. If we all vote yes in November we can have a library in this community. A proud accomplishment.
Again a loving thank you.
