Huntley Park District receives award for loss control program
Trying to make its parks and recreational programs safe and cost- effective to the public has been a constant goal of the Huntley Park District. Apparently, their efforts have paid off.
Since 1986, the Huntley Park District has been a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA), which is a self- insurance risk pool made up of 118 Illinois park and recreation
agencies. The risk pool annually conducts a review of its members' loss prevention programs. Last week, the Huntley Park District learned from PDRMA that its loss control program was rated as "excellent.'' In addition, the district was awarded PDRMA's highest award, which is accreditation. This award is in recognition ofthe district having implemented a comprehensive safety program by
averaging a 95% score on the past two safety program evaluations.
Paul Ostrander and Betsey Warrington, safety coordinators for the district, were very appreciative of the award. They also expressed appreciation ofthe hard work by the staff, who have attempted to promote the idea of safe operations in every facet of their programming and facilities.
PDRMA is an extension of each
member agency, since they are dedicated to serving the risk management needs of park and recreation agencies ~ this is all that they do. With PDRMA's assistance, the parks and programs have become safer for agency employees and the public. Fewer losses reduces the cost of insurance, which saves tax dollars. Risk management is part of the Huntley Park District' s management system which benefits everybody.

CAG Blockwatch Captains to inform residents about program
The Huntley Police Department and the McHenry Co. Sheriffs Department would like the residents of Huntley to watch for the Communities Against Gang
Blockwatch Captains who will be goingdoortodooruntilMarch4. The captains will have identification tags that they will show, so it will be easy for you to open your door to your
neighbors and learn about ways you can help maintain a safe neighborhood. The police department hopes you will take the
time to listen to what the captains have to say. The safety of our communitites needs the support of all of its residents to make it work.
