1996 McHenry County Fair Opens with 4-H Fashion Review

Last Wednesday, July 24, the McHenry County Fair clothing judging began. Twelve of the Huntley Harvestors club members participated in the judging. In the judging you can either construct an outfit or purchase an outfit. With the fashion show and clothing judging you can become a state delegate as a model as well as best construction and best purchased garment.
All of the Huntley Harvestors constructed their outfits and recieved at least one blue ribbon oul of two! Some of the larger awards ihe Harvestors won were by: Kim Jurs for stale delegate in Clothing I construction; Billy Edwards Merit Award for Clothing I construction; Jennifer Hahn for second siaie alternate for both Clothing II construction and modeling; and Eric Ruth state delegate for modeling and plaque.
Also from Huntley, Susie Stiers of the Huniley Pioneers 4-H club won stale alternate for Clothing II purchased garment.

Huntley Joins National Night Out
On July 25, 1996 Village President James Dhamer and the Village Board of Hunllcy unanimously passed a Village Pro¬ clamation proclaiming Tuesday, August 6th, 1996 as "National Night Out 1996." The proclamation recognizes and supports the efforts of Ihc "Communities Against Gangs" and the crime prevention efforts of the Block Watch Groups of Huniley.
On the evening of August 6lh between the hours of 7pm and 8pm residents are asked to turn on their outside lights and get oul lo meet their neighbors. The Police Deparlmcni will have officers available to mcei with ihe six organized Block Watch groups.
This is the 13ih year that the "Naiionai Association of Town Watch" has sponsored this unicjue opportunity lo meet your neighbors. Lighting the outside lights has become synonymous with caring aboul what happens in your neighborhood.

Huntley Park District and The Growing Scene, Inc. are sponsoring a "Beautiful Yard Contest" for Huniley residenis. This contest will spot light those residents that contribute lo the city atmosphere through their care and
•luring of the plants in their d. Anyone whose mailing address is Huniley is eligible to enter the contest. Homeowners may stop by or call The Growing Scene, Inc. to register for the contest. Their address is 17009 Harmony Road, near Route 20, the phone number is 669-0023. Residents need to register by August 23. Judging will take place September 3 & 4.

Solarcrete/Magic Lantern Studios Breaks Ground In Huntley

Representatives from the Village of Huntley, Solarcreie Energy Efficient Buildings, Magic Lantern Studios, Prudential Realty Services and Harris Bank Huntley broke ground last Friday in Bernat Industrial Park on Allison Court.
Huntley Village President Jim Dhamer said he really appreciates this business and others that choose Huntley to locate in. "This is the kind of growth the Village really wants to promote."
