Remennbrance Tree Ceremony Held at Deicke Park
A ceremony was held at Deicke Recreation Center on Saturday, December 13 for the annual lighting and dedication of the Huntley Remembrance Tree.
Throughout December the Park District accepted omaments made, or bought, by individuals in honor of someone special in their life. The omaments were hung on the two trees set up in the pre¬ school classroom. During the lighting and dedication ceremony their names were read.
Betsey Warrington, Park District Recreadon Director, read the names of those who have had omaments dedicated to them. The Remembrance Tree and remem-brance tree omaments are a special service diat the Hundey Park District operates along widi the Huntley Chamber of Commerce.
Evan Pederson Wins Huntely Lions Poster Contest
Evan Pederson, a 6th grade student at Huntley Middle School, has taken the first step to becoming an internationally recognized artist by winning a local competiuon sponsored by the HunUey Lions. His poster is among more than 300,000 entries submitted worldwide in the tenth annual Lions Intemational Peace Poster Contest. His entry best portrayed the contest's theme, "A World in Harmony."
Pederson's poster now advances to round-two District competition in District IJ where his enUy will compete against entries from many other local Peace Poster contests. His Poster will face stiff competition through the District round and in three more rounds of international competition if he is to be declared the international winner;
Locally, Pederson and two other students, Sean Sartell and Bryana Shergold, were honored for their initiative, effort and artistic skills by the HunUey Lions Club. Congratulations to all who competed.

Farmside Announces Holiday Hours
The HunUey Farmside office will closed for die Holidays from December 24 Uirough January 4.
The Farmside office will reopen at 9:00 am Monday, January 5, 1998.
The Farmside will no t publish on January 1, 1998 (the Thursday between Chrisunas and New Years. The next issue of the Farmside will be published on January 8,1998.

Recycle Your Christmas Tree
When Uiis Christmas season is over, you will be wondering what to do with your live Christmas tree. The needles are dropping, and you are getting tired of the tree and all the decorations. Did you know that you can give your Christmas tree anotiier life by recycling it? There are a number of locations which will use the trees as chips for their paths or hideouts for wildlife. All trees should be free of tinsel, ornaments, and other decorations. Trees are not Accepted from commercial sites.
HunUey Park Distfict will be accepting trees to be chipped to use for mulch in the parks until Jan. 31. Just leave your cleaned tree in the thicket behind the Boy Scout Log Cabin in Deicke Park, located on Route 47, HunUey.
These McHenry County
ConservaUon Disti-ict sites will accept uees from Dec. 26 until Jan. 15: Rush Creek (Harvard), Glacial Park (Ringwood), and Algonquin Township Yard next door to the Hollows (Crystal Lake). For directions call 815-678- 4431.
These Townships will also accept Christmas trees Dec. 26 to Jan. 31: Algonquin Township Garage (Crystal Lake), Nunda Township garage (Crystal Lake, and Dorr Township Garage (Woodstock). McHenry Township Garage (McHenry) will accept u-ees from Dec. 26 untU Jan. 15. The Bull Valley Hunt Club accepts u-ees to use for hideouts and shelters for birds and other wildlife through Jan. 31. Call them at 815-338-4240.

1998 Vehicle Stickers Now Available
The Village of Huntley 1998 Vehicle Stickers are now available for purchase at the Village Hall, 11704 Coral Sti-eet.
Village Hall hours are: Monday thru Friday - 8am to 4:30pm. Saturdays Dec. 8,1997 - Febmary 28, 1998 from 9am until noon.
The following fees apply: Passenger: $8.00 Tmcks 3/4 ton or less: $10.00 Tmcks over 3/4 ton: $15.00 Motorcycles: $6.00 Snowmobiles: $6.00
Stickers are due on windshields by Febmary 28,1998.
A $5.00 per sticker, per month late fee will apply effective March 1, 1998.
