FSfiritage Fair seeks donations, volunteers
1 lie 11th annual Heritage Fair of also be offered at the auction.
the McHenry County Historical Society is seeking donations for its auctions of antiques, collectibles and handmade quilts. The Fair will be held Sunday July 9th from 10am to 4pm at the McHemy Countj' Historical Society Museum in Union. Items donated to the auction will be tax deductible. The societ>' is only seeking quality items.
The Heritage Fair is the Historical Society'sprinciple annual fund raiser. Money goes to the maintenance ofthe Museum, acquisition of new artifacts, and the many educational programs ofthe Society.
The Fair is also seeking crafters who wish to sell their wares. Reasonable price table space is still available at this well-attended annual event. The traditional pie baking contest will again be a featured attraction.
Pie judging will begin at 12 noon in the one-room schoolhouse. The first, second and third-place pies will be offered at auction at 1pm. Quihs, antiques, collectibles, and art will
Other pies in the contest will be offered for sale at one dollar per slice to fairgoers. Additional food and drink will be catered by Wayne's Meat Market ofMarengo. Piebakingcontestentriesare limited to apple or cherry two-crust pies. Bakers are invited to compete for a nominal one dollar entr>' fee. Entrants should call the Historical Societ>' at 815/923-2267.
Other competitions include the hilarious cardboard outhouse- building contest. Thi s year, an historic bicycle tour will also be offered with prizes for completing 6, 15, and 40 mile routes. Children will enjoy playing Century games.
In addition, there will be museum tours, live entertainment, line dancing, craft sales, one-room school classes, and other family fiin. The Fair is also seeking crafters who wish to sell. Reasonably priced table space is still available at this event.
Volunteers are also still needed to staff various booths and assist in setup and tear down.
Teens enjoy community dance
Teens do the "YMCA" at the teen dance June 30, sponsored by DARE, CAG, Snowball and J-Teenz at Deicke Park. (See story on page 2.)
Huntley Fire Protection presents board minutes
Secretary Williams made a motion to open the May 18,1995 regular meetingof the Huntley Fire Protection District Trusteesat7:05pm, seconded by Treasurer Homuth. Roll noted: Gow, aye; Williams, aye; Homuth,aye; and Graf, aye. Motion carried and meeting opened. Present were President Gow, Secretary Williams, Treasurer Homuth and Trustee Graf. Also attending were Fire Chief Veath and Attorney Militello.
Pt'^^ent Gov^ stated the first order ofbtoiness was the swearing in ofthe new trustee, Edward Hartman, at which time Attomej Militello then swore him in. He was welcomed to the board on behalf of the members of the board.
Next was election of officers for the
1995-96 fiscal year.
Trustee Gow made a motion to nominate and elect Trustee Maynard Williams to the position of secretary, seconded by Trustee Homuth. Roll noted all ayes and motion carried. Trastee Graf made a motion to

to the position of treasurer, motion seconded by Trastee Hartman. Roll noted all ayes and the motion carried. Trastee Graf made a motion to nominate and elect Trastee Gow as president of the Huntley Fire Protection District, seconded by Secretary Williams. Roll noted all ayes and the motion carried.

At this point, the President asked Fire Chief Veath to introduce Mr. Bill England and his partner of Employee Assistance Program of Memorial Medical Center. They
handed a brochure and gave a presentation of their program. President Gow recommended that this program be extended not only to iull time employees but to paid-on-call to which they advised that arrangement could be made. Trustee Graf questioned the charge per employee of $15.00 ifusedornot. After fiirther discussion and questions. President Gow advised that the board would review and consider and will get back to Mr. England and thanked him for his presentation.
President Gow then called on Mark Kunde, representing the Firefighters Association. He had nothing to report at this time.
He then called for public comments. Mr. Bob Kunde addressed the board regarding the water training. He requested that one last roundbe fought by the "Old Timers" being the chief, Gary Nepermann, Doug Jacobson, Milford Brown and himself Since two ofthese are not current members of the department, liability matter
