NICOR Proposes Natural Gas Transmission Project
NICOR, Inc has announced agreement on a letter of intent lo join Calgary-based TransCanada PipeLines Limited and Minneapolis-based Northem States Power Company (NSP) as a sponsor of the Viking Voyageur Gas Tiansmission project, a $1 billion pipeline designed to transport natural gas from the Canadian border tothe Midwest United States.
The Viking Voyageur project is a proposed 800-mile, underground natural gas pipeline that will originate in Emerson, Manitoba, Canada, then extend east and south
to Joliet, Illinois. The Viking- Voyageur Transmission Project proposal would affect McHenry, Kane, Will and Kendall counties in the Northern Illinois Gas service area.
Future phases of the project include extensive input from the public. Meetings have already taken place with some local officials along the proposed pipeline route and several more meetings are scheduled with landowners, environmental and community groups.
Current plans are to begin seeking regulatory and other approvals this fall, with
operations to begin by late 1999. The project will utilize existing utility corridors for much of its length. Its initial capacity will be 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

Femvale Idelette 120 was named the reserve senior heifer calf champion at the 1997 Wisconsin State Fair Angus Show held August 2 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. James Marsh, Huntley, Illinois owns the winning entry.
Harmony Road Campus to Hold Open House
The Board of Education of Consolidated School District 158 will host an Open House and Dedication Ceremony for the new Huntley Middle School and Huntley High School on Sunday, Sept 7, l-4pm with the dedication at 2pm. The school is located at the Harmony Road Campus, 13719 Harmony Road, west of Huntley. For additional information, contact Dr. Pamela Kraus, assistant superintendent at 847-669-5248.
Harvesters to Start New 4-H Year
Youth Baseball Board Election To Be Held
On Thursday, September 4, 1997 at 7:00pm the Huntley Youth Baseball Board election will be held at the Huntley American Legion. This is an open meeting for the election board members for the 1998 season and for any changes to be discussed for the next season.

The Huntley Harvestors 4-H Club will hold the first meeting of the '97-'98 4-H year on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7pm in Fellowship Hall of the First Congregational Church of Hundey. We will be having a Pizza Party to celebrate the installation of our new officers and the beginning of our new 4-H year. We'll starf talking about some of our plans for activities this year, as well as receiving the "Clover" so we can decide which projects to register for.
4-H is open to any youth age 8- 19. To join for this year, you need to be 8 years old by Jan. 1, 1998. We strongly encourage parents to attend with their youth.
If you want to make new friends, leam about something that has always interested you, serve your community, and HAVE FUN ...Come and leam what 4-H is all about! Our meetings are always the 2nd Thursday of the month.
