Saturday April 19th, 8:00 am.
The temperature is about 37 degrees.the skies are grey and gloomy, and a fine steady mist of very cold rain starts to fall. But not even our "Lovely" spring weather can deter the many families, friends, and groups of people that came out to participate in Huntleys Clean Sweep Day. The volunteers that met at the Park District enjoyed some juice,' coffee, and donuts before they got started. By 8:00am the various clean up routes were assigned , the garbage bags were distributed, and they were on their way to cleaning up the streets.
The Clean Sweep spanned from Kruetzer Rd. all the way to Reed Rd., including North and South Rt.47, East and West Main St., Huntiey Blacktop, Algonquin Rd., Ruth Rd. and anything in l)etween that needed to be cleaned up. The roadsides, tree banks, gullies, and streets became nice and clean, but the volunteers were full of mud and depris.By the time it was all over, the people that had participated in one way or another deserved a standing ovation for all their effort and hard work, they also deserved a nice warm bath to shake off the cold. This kind of community effort and pride in our town is what makes us all proud to call Huntley our home. A big Thank You to all of you!
