The fast start in Southwind is particularly satisfying because sales typically don't pick up until after model homes open in a new community, said Richard J. Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Cambridge Homes. "The fast start in Southwind is a pleasant surprise because we are only into our second month of preconsu-uction sales of all new plans without the benefit of having model homes completed for visitors to see," Brown said. "The recent success in Southwind is also encouraging because this is our first venture in McHenry County. Going into a new market is always challenging, and the fact that sales have been spread out among virtually every home design in both series bodes well for the future success of Southwind." To date, the majority of buyers have been couples with young children, moving up from townhomes, Brown said. Southwind includes nine all new single-family plans in two home series. The homes range from 1,456 to 2,781 square feet of living space and include three to five bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, and two-car attached garages. Each home is available with a basement designed to be finished into an Continued on Page 12 On Sunday, June 22 the 12th annual Town Picnic will be held in Deicke Park from 10am - 5pm.
