Huntley Seniors Enjoy Christmas Spirit

Nearly 100 Huntley area senior citizens turned out last week for the Christmas luncheon hosted by Lioness and the American Legion Auxilary. Before lunch May Chesak lead Christmas carols on the piano and the Huntley High School Choir performed some numbers from their upcoming concert. The Auxilary and Lioness gave each guest a Christmas ornament and donated prizes for bingo.
Park District Meeting
The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order at 7 P.M. on Wednesday, November 28, 1990. Present were Commissioners Knott, Yerke and Mercer, Attorney Cowlin, Betsey Warrington, Paul Ostrander and Jack Todd.
A motion to approve the minutes of the October 24 meeting was made by Mrs. Mercer, seconded by Mr. Yerke. All voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Knott made a motion to accept the Treasurer's
report, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried.
The bills for the month were presented. Mr. Yerke made a motion to pay all bills, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All ayes and the motion carried.
Mr. Knott reported on the meetings our board members have attended concerning developments and future plans for our area.
Paul Ostrander's report covered more repair needed on
the Commonwealth Edison damage, improve horseshoe pits, trail repair and painting equipment.
Betsey Warrington informed the board of the staff party on December 19, Christmas decorations, holiday pro¬ grams, lAPD conference and possible donation of swing set for or Timer's Park.
A motion by Mr. Knott, seconded by Mrs. Mercer, was to recind the previous ordinance for park improve¬ ment bond and to adopt a new ordinance for the park
Adopt A Battalion
The Veterans of Foreign Wars,Huntley Post 10780 invites you to participate in our "Adopt a Battalion" program beginning December 13th until December 20th 1990.
1st Battalion—6th Marines Regiment, currently participating in operation Desert Shield, will be the recipient of any donations of non perishable foods, games, puzzles or personal grooming items donated during
this period.
Donations can be made at HUNTLEY VILLAGE
STATIONER, 11806 E. Main St., during normal working hours and in front of The Huntley Supermarket on Friday and Saturday, December 14th and 15th.
During this holiday season please search out your hearts and your cupboard shelves for a little piece of home for our men and w^omen overseas.
Operation S.O.S.
Operation SOS (Support Our Soldiers) will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 7:30 at the Congregational Church of Algonquin (Washington and Harrison).
This is a support group of families with loved ones in Saudi Arabia. They have been sending care packages to the American GIs and helping others to cope with their loved one being sent to the Middle East.
Those interested in attending, should bring a picture of their loved one and an address to display on a poster board.

and dehydrated foods: Dominick's on Route 14 in Crystal Lake, Congregational Church of Algonquin on Harrison ii Washington Streets and Baskin-Robbins in Cary on Route 14 near Jewel.

improvement bond with the State Bank of Huntley as the Bond Registrar. AU voted aye and the motion carried.
The board acknowledged the donation of a tree and plaque for the Richard Landers Memorial.
Thank you to DFC for their check for the ETC program.
The board received a thank you note from LeRoy Wirsing for the flowers he enjoyed.
Mrs. Mercer moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Knott. The meeting was adjourned at 8:50 P.M.
These minutes are subject to approval at the next regular meeting.
