Previous to this position she taught at Cary Junior High School and McHenry Community College and she was a substitute teacher here for four years. Norris has degrees in art studio and art history from Northern Illinois University and an anthropology degree from Southern Illinois University. Norris lives with her husband four miles west of Huntley and has one son, Justin, in 4th grade. Donna Patterson teaches Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II and Applied Math. In addition, Patterson is the Senior Class Advisor and Co-sponsor with Mrs. Moerke of the high school yearbook. Originally from upstate New York, Patterson graduated from State University of New York. She has been in Illinci.s just over 1 year and resides in McHenry with her husband and son who is 17 months old. Meet more new teachers from the Huntley School system! This week The Huntley Farmside introduces you to four new teachers and the new Library Aide. Laura Bryant who is not pictured, teaches Spanish at the high school and serves as the district ESL (English as a Second Language) instructor. In addition she is the Junior Class Advisor. Bryant, a graduate of Greenville College, Greenville, IL, spent most of her childhood growing up in Venezuela and brings a wealth of experience to the Huntley School system. Continued on page 4 National Employ th( _ Handicappec Week OCTOBER r-7; Huntley Area Library District The Huntley Area Library District Board met on Sept. 12, 1990, at 7:30 p.m. at the Park District Board Room. The meeting was called to order by board president, Mr. Ruth. The following members were present: Mr. Borhart, Mrs. Crabill, Mrs. Kloempken, Mrs. Kohley, Mr. Ruth and Mrs. Sheets. Guests present: Mr. McClarren and Mr. Srtiith. Mrs. Sheets moved, Mr. Borhart seconded to approve the minutes of the August meeting as written with amendments to include role call votes. Yeas: Sheets, Borhart, Crabill, Kloempken, Kohley. 0 nays. Motion carried. Mr. Drendel entered meeting. Financial report: Mr. Borhart gave the treasurer's report. Mr. Drendel moved, Mrs. Kloempken seconded to pay bills as presented. Yeas: Drendel, Kloempken, Borhart, Crabill, Kohley, Sheets. 0 nays. Motion carried. Committee reports were given. Facilities/Equipment: Discussion was opened on the purchase of the Huntley Medical Building and lots. Mrs. Kohley moved, Mrs. Kloempken seconded to purchase the Huntley Medical Building for $175,000; $10,000 down and balance due Sept. 1, 1991. Yeas: Kohley, Kloempken, Borhart, Crabill, Drendel, Sheets. 0 nays. Motion carried. Budget/ Finance: Mr. Smith, lawyer, presented an ordinance for levy of taxes for fiscal year 1990-91. Mrs. Kloempken moved, Mrs. Sheets seconded to adopt the ordinance for levy of taxes, $65,000, for the fiscal year 1990-91. Yeas: Kloempken, Sheets, Borhart, Crabill, Drendel, Kohley. 0 nays. Motion carried. Mrs. Sheets moved, Mrs. Kloempken seconded to begin procedures of obtaining tax anticipation warrants of up to $50,000; Yeas: Sheets, Kloempken, Borhart, Crabill, Drendel, Kohley. 0 nays. Motion carried. Friends of the Library: Mrs. Kloempken reported that there will be a used book sale on Oct. 26 & 27 sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Old Business: Mrs. Kohley presented a revised draft for an agreement with Crystal Lake as our host library. Discussion was opened. Mrs. Sheets moved, Mr. Borhart seconded to approve the contract with Crystal Lake Library and present it as amended. Yeas: Sheets, Borhart, Crabill, Drendel, Kloempken, Kohley. 0 nays. Motion carried. New Business: Director Committee: Mrs. Sheets presented information concerning a director. Discussion was opened. Mr. Drendel moved, Mrs. Kloempken seconded to adjourn the meeting. Waste Advisory The McHenry County Waste Advisory Committee (MCWAC) will hold its next meeting on Thursday, Sept. 27, 1990, at 7:30 p.m. in Room 201 of the Annex A building. The topic of the meeting will be the "Draft" Phase I, Solid Waste Plan, and "Draft" Chapters 6, 7, and 8 of Phase II of the Solid Waste Plan.
