Huntley Firemen To Host Hose Training (Waterfights)

The Huntley Fire Department invites you to the annual Hose and Water Training Competition (formerly known as Waterfights). The event will take place this Saturday, June 28, on Woodstock Street at Coral Street (on the Town Square).
Huntley Firemen will compete against teams from other area departments. Each five-man team tries to control the hose (with 80 pounds of pressure coming through the nozzle) and aim the stream of water at a barrel centered between them. The team that forces the barrel past the other team in a 2-out-of-3 contest wins.
Registration begins at 4:00 pm; competition begins at 4:30 pm. If the scorching heat of last weekend is still with us, this could be a GREAT WAY TO COOL OFF!
Ask the Garden Experts Day
This is your chance to have all those gardening questions answered! "Ask the Experts Day" is being sponsored by the Growing Scene, Inc. a garden center in rural Marengo. The day long events will take place on Saturday, June 28 from 9:00-5:00. Professionals from the shrub, tree, flower, wildflower, bedding plant and mulch segments of the gardening industry will be available to answer your questions. Informational tables will be set up along with seminars being offered throughout the day. This incredible opportunity will allow you to have all of your lawn
and garden questions answered!
Seminars scheduled throughout the day include: 10:00am "Your Guide to a Beautiful Lawn" 10:30am "Growing Evergreens Successfully
11:00am "Designing  Beautiful Flower Beds"
1:00pm "Improving your Soil" 2:00pm "Shrubs for Hedges or Screens"

Craft Show This Friday to Sunday
Approximately 150 craft vendors will show their wares at the 3rd Annual Huntiey Factory Shops Craft Show to be held Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29. Hours for the show are Fri & Sat 10 - 5 and Sunday 11-4.
On Friday from 1-3 Dirk & Guido: The Swordsmen (from Bristol Renaissance Faire) apply their witty rapiers and rapier wits to "Lessons in Gentiemanly Behavior" and "THrust for Glory" in which poetry and swordplay are employed to win the affections of an unwitting lady from the audience!
