Mother Nature's Fury Blows thru Huntley       "Hobos Travel Around The World"At 1st Congregational
According to Fire Chief Dave Veath, the strong winds that blew through Huntley on Sunday, kept theHuntley Fire Dept.busy for most of the day by responding to numerous calls conceming downed "overhead" power hues due to the estimated 70 plus mile an hour winds. Each situation was evaluated and turned over to Commonwealth Edison to take care of. They also responded to several fire alarms that were triggered due to the power outage, also caused by the strong winds.
Subway Sandwich Shop on Rt.47 had their front door broken off due to the strong winds.
Video Smideos front door was also caught by the strong winds, which caused it to slam so hard that it shattered a 3 x 8 ft.glass window. The Carpet Store & More also received damage due to the power outage when employees were forced to leave because they had no power. When the power resumed a heat gun that was being used earlier started on fire. There was considerable smoke and water damage to the store.
WestLand Golf took a huge hit
due to the strong winds, when their netting that is held up by poles, created a domino effect and came tumbling down .These poles are rated to withstand 70 mile an hour winds and are secured 10 ft,into the ground with cement. Each pole also has 2 guide wires on the East and the West side to give added support to the poles and netting..The guide wires are 4.5 ft. under the surface and are also supported by cement. A 10 ft. middle section of fence that separates WestLand and King Chevrolet also came down. Benches that were secured to the ground were overturned and a telephone pole that was taken down, because of the strong winds knocked the gutter off of King Chevrolet building.
As of late Monday afternoon some people that lived on Coyne station road were still without power. Many people were starting to clean up tiieir yards of the many tree limbs and garbage that was blown around due to the extremely strong winds. Insurance Agents were busily scurring about trying to get to all the claims filed due to the damage from the strong winds.
The youth of Huntley's First Congregational Church have turned into a bunch of bums! It's the 32nd almost annual Hobo Show and it takes place, Friday, April II at 7pm and Saturday, April 12 at 6pm in the church social hall. Under the directorship of high school student, Krista Jurs, more than a dozen kids aged 5-15 are recreating what has long been a tradition in Huntley. This
year's show is called, "Hobos Travel Around the World". This musical variety show is filled with bad jokes and good fun. In addition to corny jokes, the hobos will be serving up their now famous hobo beef stew. The musical directors for the show are Russ Mobley, Joel Ahrendt, Tom Leonard, and Tim Wills. Heading up the kitchen staff and kitchen staff and ticket sales are Trudy Jurs and
Lynette Mobley. Area businesses have been generous in donating exciting items to be given away as door prizes and fun stuff for individual goody bags. Don't miss "Hobos Travel Around the World", it promises to be great fun for the whole family!

Huntley Youth Baseball Plans Dinner
On Saturday, April 12 Huntley Youth Baseball will hold its annual Spaghetti Dinner from 5- 9pm at the Huntley American Legion.
The public is most welcome. Tickets are available at the door. At the end of the dinner there will
be a 50/50 raffle. All of the proceeds will go to Huntley Youth Baseball, a non-profit organization comprised solely of neighborhood volunteers. Come out and enjoy good food and meet our dedicated volunteers.
National Outlet Shopping Week

Huntley Factory Shops is preparing for National Outlet Shopping Week! This special event is the first joint effort among outlet center developers and manufacturers to compel both outlet shoppers and non-outlet shoppers to discover the outlet shopping experience of today. Thirty-three developers, operating 222 outlet centers in 44 states and Canada, along with 95 retailers, representing over 2000 stores, are participating in this program. Huntley Factory Shops invites the media and shoppers to participating in  this, program.

Money Magazine will be lecturing "How To Get Your Financial Act Together," on Tuesday, April 8,6-6:30pm in the Food Court. A seven-day sidewalk sale will take place throughout the National Outlet Shopping Week. Mothers Against Drunk Driving will display materials to educate how everyone can be safer on the roads. FREE face painting will be offered to children who visit the center on Saturday, April 12, 12-4 in the Food Court.
