Huntley Kiwanis Recognizes "Random Act of Kindness"
Huntley High School Presents ... "Guys & Dolls"
What is a Random Act of Kindness? "Random Acts of Kindness are those sweet or lovely things we do for no reason except that, momentarily, the best of our humanity has sprung into full bloom" (Daphne Rose Kingma from the book Random Acts of Kindness, Conarl Press).
During the month of February, Random Acts of Kindness Month, the Huntley Kiwanis Club asked any recipient of a "kindness" to recognize that act by submitting the name of the person who performed the act. Three names were drawn at random from the submissions.
Last Thursday, the Kiwanis Club honored Scott Ruth with their top Random Acts of Kindness award. He was nominated by Mike & Sue Saw. Their note explained how when Scott had given their son a ride home from school on a nasty
winter day he noticed the driveway was very icy. Scott retumed later in the day with bags of salt and spread it over the 700-ft driveway for the Sawas. Scott was awarded a framed certificate, and a $25 gift certificate to use at Donley's Wild West Steakhouse and Buffet, courtesy of The Hundey Farmside. Dwayne Bilsborough and Wayne Donahue also received recognition for their Acts of Kindness. Mr. Bilsborough was nominated for fixing a downed mailbox for Mrs. Fell. He was given a commemorative coin, courtesy of the First National Bank of Marengo/HunUey Banking Center Mr. Donahue was nominated for taking a cherry pie and a seed catalog to Harry Schmidt at Green Trees on Washington's birthday. He was given a Hubert the Harris Lion bank courtesy of Harris Bank - Huntley.
