Huntley Drama Club Presents "Arsenic & Old Lace"
Dan Marks, who plays Johnathan Brewster, takes a brief rest during rehearsals for this weekend's production of "Arsenic & Old Lace" in the grade school gym.
By Kim Skaja
Huntley High School's Drama Club proudly presents "Arsenic & Old Lace". The play centers on Mortimer Brewster, played by Matt Drufke, and his two zany aunts, the lovable Brewster sisters, played by Denise Archambeault and Misty Welch. The sisters are the pillars of Brooklyn society, except for their secret penchant for
poisoning old male callers with their homemade elderberry wine. The young man is also burdened with a madly eccentric brother, (Kyle Williams) who thinks he is Teddy Roosevelt and is forever charging wildly up the stairs. Trouble ensues when evil brother, Johnathan (Dan Markus) retums. The play is directed by Roberta
Epperson. The elaborate set was designed and constructed by the students under the guidance of Mr. and Mrs. Epperson, don't miss this romping rip snorting comedy! Performances will be held in the Huntley grade school gym, Saturday, February 22, at 2:00pm and 7:00pm and Sunday at 2:00pm and 6:00pm.

Village Opposes Power-line Plan
Commonwealth Edison held two public forums last week to receive public comment conceming their application to the Illinois Commerce Commission to construct, operate and maintain new electric transmission lines and substations in Kane and McHenry counties. The first of the two meetings was held in the Huntley High School cafeteria, the second was held at Westfield Community School on Sleepy Hollow Road in Algonquin.
At issue is if the high-voltage power transmission lines will be above ground or hurried. The position of the Village of Huntley is that overhead power lines are potentially dangerous and will adversely affect property values in the Village. ComEd has taken the position that they are required to use the "least cost" alternative and that burying the power lines is significantly more expensive than hanging them from towers.
Also at issue, is the route of the proposed line. As proposed, the power lines do not follow current property lines or existing right-of- way. At one point in the route, the power lines cross a portion of the property proposed for a new school.
ComEd's plan includes high- voltage power lines suspended from 65 foot tall towers from a point near Route 176 and Route 47 to a point near Kreutzer and Randall Roads. The plan also includes construction of two sub¬ stations.
Notice - Hydrant Flushing
Hydrant flushing in Huntley will be done on Friday, Feb. 21, between the hours of 7:00am and 3:00pm. Dead-end hydrants will be the only hydrants flushed by Public Works, due to weather conditions. Flushing hydrants may stir up sediments in the water supply, so please refrain from doing laundry or using large amounts of water for a 24 hour period after flushing has been completed. This will allow time for any remaining iron sediments left in the system to settle down. The \yater is safe for drinking.';,
