The Importance
Of One Vote ^.—_......
The enormous power of just one single vote has often been demonstrated throughout history. You may think that one vote, cast among millions in a county, state or federal election cannot possible count, but one vote saved President Andrew Johnson from being impeached. In 1960,
Richard Nixon lost Illinois and the presidential election by less than one vote per precinct. In 1982, Governor Jim Thompson won re-election by less than one vote in every other precinct.
So, one vote really does count. Please Vote, Nov. 6, for the candidates of your choice.
Off To Japan
Two Union Special "Total Quality Control" (TQC) small group problem solving teams are being chauffeured to O'Hare to board a flight for an eight day trip to Japan. Union Special started upon a process called "Total Quality Control" in June of 1989. A "TQC" process puts the customer as the focal point in everything that is done. It utilises the most important asset of any company, its workers. Some activities currently in place at U.S. are the small group
problem solving teams, the suggestion system, and participation in daily discussions. Presently there are 52 small group problem solving teams in Chicago and Huntley combined. A Spring and Fall convention was held at Huntley High School with teams competing for the Japanese trip. The Stockroom and EC Assembly teams won with the EC Assembly team demonstrating their winning presentation at the Juki Corp. Juki Corp. bought Union Special in 1988.
Winning team members Rodney Yurs, Dinah Benedict, John Rapacz and Brian York picutred. Other members not pictured are Dave Wnek, Pete Tunnicliffe and Joe Mercure.
