PTA Hosts Father-Daughter Dance
Gretchen Flynn
On Friday, Feb. 6, the Huntley PTA sponsored its first father- daughter dance. The Valentine- themed event was attended by 560 Huntley North and South School girls and their father or escort for the evening.
Girls from kindergarten through 5th grade arrived at the Huntley South Elementary School gymnasium at 7:30pm dressed in their finest or most fashionable attire. For $10 per couple or family, each girl received a heart-shaped neck¬ lace and balloon and had her
picture taken with her father or escort and put in a keepsake pic¬ ture frame as a momento of the evening. Unlimited refresh¬ ments of valentine cupcakes, cookies, candies and punch were enjoyed throughout the evening. Music and dancing for the two hour event were provid¬ ed compliments of Bad Boyz D.J. Scott Roth. A princess for the evening. Tiffany Moerke, was randomly selected and hon¬ ored by a special spotlight dance with her father. Many generous local businesses and
restaurant donated prizes for both father and daughter that were raffle off throughout the evening. While this was not a PTA fundraiser, the event was a huge success!

Huntley Music Boosters Fashion Show
Jane Miller
A glimpse of spring was seen in Huntley. Last Thursday evening, Feb. 12, local students modeled spring fashions, as well as formals, at the "Hearts of Harmony" Fashion Show. The Huntley Music Boosters presented this 12th annual event to raise funds for students to receive music scholarships. As guests were served coffee, juice and petit sweets by male stu¬ dents in formal attire, a parade of junior and senior music stu¬ dents, in addition to a few charming preschoolers, provid¬ ed the musical fashion revue.
A group of merchants from Huntley Factory Shops Outlet Mall provided clothing for the fashion show (American Eagle, Big Dog, Capacity, Carter's, Dress Bam, G.H. Bass, IZOD, Jones of New York, L'Eggs,
Hanes, Bali, Platex, Reebok, Van Heusen), with prom wear from Amy's Bridal Boutique in Dundee and Gingiss Formal Wear at Spring Hill Mall. Additional thanks for beverages provided by Sandra Knight of Chicago Coffee Roastery and McDonalds of Algonquin. Special thanks to Huntley Floral for providing the flow¬ ers. Other merchants from Huntley, Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills, Union and West Dundee provided items for the fashion show silent auction and door prizes. Our special thanks to the com¬ munity for their continued sup¬ port of the music department. Thanks again to our guests, par¬ ents, grandparents, classmates, friends and all our volunteers for making this event a huge success.
