Village Announces Changes for 1998
Del Webb has entered into the process of development and there are an abundant amount of beneficial effects this will have on the community. We will be seeing other commercial and industrial activities of development which will benefit the residents through a stronger tax base, both real estate and sales tax.
The actual production of a Sewer Treatment Facility to support the new growth of Del Webb as well as potentially other developments.
Business Registration Ordinance will create a method of identifying who is conducting or operating a business within the Village limits. The requirement for all businesses to register with the Village has come to pass by Ordinance #97-11-20-04. Each and every business will be required to register annually and "»* display their business registration form in an obvious place. There will be an initial fee of $25 and an annual renewal fee of $10. Between now and March 31, any and all existing businesses that register will be exempt from the initial fee of $25. They will only have to submit the $10 annual fee for 1998. On April 1, 1998, all new registrants will be required to pay the initial rate as the ordinance requires.
Enforcement of the recently revised and adopted sign ordinance. This ordinance is the result of many hours of time spent by representatives of business and government working together to alleviate some of the ambiguities of the old, existing ordinance. Specific enforcement will be
delegated as time allows. Some of the highlights are as follows: No banners will be allowed except through Village Board Approval; no unauthorized signs will be allowed in any right of way. They will be confiscated when discovered. Confiscation and disposal of any such sign or other object that is not permitted to be in the right of way will be immediate; Civic Event signs will be granted limited exemption on an annual basis by the Village Board. The form for request will need to be completed by November 1 of each year and the Board will grant or deny limited exemption as they deem necessary. Any organization recognized as a Village of Huntley Civic Group will be allowed to file such request (s). (For 1998, all requests for exemption will need to be in by March 1); an Amortization schedule will be applied to all non-conforming signs. Any sign that does not comply with the ordinance will be given a specific amount of time to alter it into compliance or remove it. Banners and temporary type signs will be subject to removal immediately; Changeable Copy signs are now allowed under specific conditions. The Village of Huntley Building and Code Enforcement Department operates between the hours of 7:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding Holidays). Huntley Home & Business Expo
The Huntley Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry is pleased to announce the guest appearance of Bill Cavanagh, The Ranger, at the 1998 Huntley Home and Biisiness Expo in February.
The Ranger has been pointed out by Elvis Impersonator, Rick Saucedo, as an impressive Chuck Norris look-a-like. He has appeared nationally as the cover story on Entertainment Tonight, American Journal and the Jenny Jones Show. Regionally, he has appeared in a number of commercials.
Cavanagh was guided by Ilona
Boback, Chuck Norris' hair and makeup artist, to take acting classes and have a glossy photograph made of himself for promotions. He enrolled in Chicago's Audition Studio and has submitted his photograph to various agencies. He is now registered • with the Emilio Lawrence Agency and plans to take future acting classes at McHenry County College.
The Ranger will appear at the 1998 Huntley Home and Business Expo on Sunday, February 22, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
The Illinois Association of School Boards recently presented members of the Huntley School Board and representatives of Legat Architects, Inc with an award for the outstanding design of the Huntley High School/Middle School. The awards presentation took place at the lASB Educational Environments Exhibition in Chicago.
Gourmet Kitchen Outlet Now Open       Congratulations!
Huntley Factory Shops welcomes The Gourmet Kitchen Outlet store to its lineup, announced Miles Crawford, general manager of the outlet center located at the intersections of 190 and Rt. 47 in Huntley,

Congratulations! Residents of the Huntley Fire District. You have "Kept the Wreath Red" for fifteen consecutive years.
This is a program where a wreath stays brightly lit with red hghts unless there is a seasonal decoration related fire. For each seasonal fire a red light is replaced with a white light.
The wreath is hung on the fire station so that all residents know if we have had a fire safe holiday. Keep up the good work not only during the Christmas season but throughout the New Year.
Tree Disposal
The Huntley Park District will be picking up Christmas trees left on the curbings on Monday and Friday. You may also bring them to Deicke Park and put them in back of the log cabin.
