Board of Education Minutes
Santa Fund
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Consolidated Schools, Huntley, II. was held in the High School building on Nov. 16, 1989, at 7:30 pm.
The meeting was called to order by the President at 7:30 pm. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Ms. Ahrens, Ms. McDonald, Mr. Greve, Mr. Heavey, Mr. Crabill, Mr. Freeberg. Absent: Mr. Bauman. All present joined in the pledge to the flag.
1. Mr. Greve moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd to approve the minutes of the November 16 regular meeting. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
2. Mr. Freeberg moved, Ms. Ahrens 2nd to approve the monthly agenda of bills and imprest. Education $82,165.69, OBM $11,306.77, BI (130,156.25, Transportation $4,963.74. Yeas: Ahrens, McDonald, Greve, Heavey, Crabill, Freeberg - Nays: None. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
3. Mr. Crabill moved, Mr. Freeberg 2nd to approve the personnel report. Administrative Appointment: Mary Opfer - Vocational Director, Resignation: Gerry Homickel, Employment: Judith Vierck - CO. Clerk. Yeas: Ahrens, McDonald, Greve, Heavey, Crabill, Freeberg - Nays: None. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
4. Ms. Ahrens moved, Mr. Greve 2nd to accept a gift for the library of $825.00 from the American Legion Auxiliary. Yeas: Ahrens, McDonald, Greve, Heavey, Crabill, Freeberg - Nays: None. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
5. Mr. Freeberg moved, Mr. Greve 2nd to contract with Air Quality Testing, Inc. (AQT) to provide (l) six month surveillance reports per AHERA and IDPH for Huntley High School and Huntley Grade School (2) Asbestos Project Design for Huntley High School and Huntley Grade School, and (3) Asbestos Abatement Project Management, Air sampling, PCM Laboratory Analysis and Project Documentation for Huntley High School and Huntley Grade School. Yeas: Ahrens, McDonald, Greve,
Heavey, Crabill, Freeberg - Nays: None. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
6. Mr. Greve moved, Mr. Crabill 2nd to approve the K-8 School Improvement Plan for Reading & Math. Yeas: Ahrens, McDonald, Greve, Heavey, Crabill, Freeberg; Nays - None. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
7. Ms. Ahrens moved, Mr. Crabill 2nd to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement for the McHenry County Delinquent Tax Collection Program. Yeas: Ahrens, McDonald, Greve, Heavey, Crabill, Freeberg; Nays - None. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
8. Ms. Ahrens moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd to adjourn at 10:30 pm. 6 yeas - 0 nays, motion carried.
These minutes are subject to Board approval at the next meeting.
Music Fills The Air
Well, 1989 ended on a "happy note" with the Huntley School's two Christmas concerts.
The Grade School held their concert entitled, "This Is Your Life, Santa", on Monday evening, December 18th.
Jr. High li High School students presented their concert the following evening, Tuesday, December 19th.
Both concerts were quite unique in themselves. Everyone who attended the concerts enjoyed the performances.
Many thanks to Mrs. Tirk, school chorus instructor and Mr. Schuler, school band instructor, for all their hard work and patience. Also, a word of thanks to each & every one who had a part in the concerts - whether it was during the preparation before, performing in, or the clean-up afterwards - your help was greatly appreciated.
Notice
A meeting of the Huntley Library District will be held on Wednesday, January 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Media Center in the Grade School. The public is welcome to attend.
Phyllis Glissendorf and Dee D'Ambrosia help Santa distributing gifts through the Grafton Township Santa Fund.

Grafton Township Santa Fund would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude for all cash donations, grocery, merchandise and toys, which made the program a huge success.

Santa is trying to persuade Nicole Wright to tell him what she wants him to bring her at the Huntley Park District's MEET SANTA which was held Sat., Dec. 23 at Deicke Recreation Center. Participants enjoyed Santa's stories and songs while waiting patiently for their turn to sit on his lap! Refreshments of punch and cookies were served while everyone enjoyed the movie "George and the Christmas Star".

Redskins Basketball
Huntley Redskins played in the E C Nichob Basketball Tournament the week after Christmas.
Tuesday, Dec. 26, Huntley played against Riverside Brookfield Bulldogs. The first half was very close scoring, leaving Huntley 1 point behind at half-time. In the second half the Redskins lost momentum and were defeated 75-62. High scorers were Scott Ravagni with 21 points, Jason Faworski with 18 and Sheldon Faworski, 12.
Thursday, Dec. 28, Huntley fought the Marion Central Hurricanes. The first half came to a dose with Jaaon Faworski making a spectacular 50-foot, 3-point, buuer shot to put Huntley ahead 36-25. In the second half Marion Central pulled away, ending with a final score of 60-51.
Friday, Dec. 39, Huntley Redskins came away with a 67-58 victory over the Wauconda Bulldogs. The Redskins came alive in the second half, outseoring the Bulldogs 27-17. Jason Faworski led with 21 poinU while Sheldon Faworski had 17, 11 of which were in the 4th quarter. Scott Ravagnie chipped in 13 points and Eric Kittel made 8 points.

With the number of bottles generated during the celebrations of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years Day, it's a good time to start recycling.
