Cow brings 'glory' to village
Area student raises bovine, reaps the awards

Coming on the hooves of Huntley's purchase of three fiberglass cows to decorate the ¦village, a living and breathing Huntley cow has made some big news of her own.
Gloiy, a COW raised and owned by Huntley High School student Isaac Nevel, took first place in the All- American Jersey Show in Louisville, Ky., on Nov. 6. Glory won the title of Premier Total Performance Cow from the American Jersey Cattle Association.
Sixteen cows were judged in Freedom Hall on the campus of the University of Louisville for class, milk production and genetic merit.
"I was shocked; I had no idea," Nevel said about being the last contestant left in the ring after judging. "I just went out there just to be out there and I ended up win¬ ning."
Nevel has raised Glory since birth, and the 3-year- old cow has won other awards for her owner in that tune. Glory won the 3-Year- Old   Junior   Show   Genetic

Sun City adds to its acres

Sun City wants to expand, and it looks like the village ¦will give them the chance.
The Huntley Plan Commis¬ sion just approved Del Webb's addition of just under 160 ac¬ res of land, which will ac¬ commodate an extra 442 homes, bringing the retire¬ ment community's total pop¬ ulation up to around 10,000 once it is finished.
Del Webb Vice President for Land Development Bob Eck said that the community would continue to expand based on demand.
"We've had a" real good reception in the market since the time we've offered land for sale," Eck said. He also said that even though growth in the Huntley market has been pleasing, it is still a long way away from being one of Del Webb's largest communities. Eck said that the last com¬ munity he was involved in be¬ fore coming to Huntley — Georgetown, Texas — has nearly 5,300 acres of land and over 10,000 homes. By com¬ parison, Huntl^'s Sun City started out with just 1,850 ac¬ res and with the new addition ¦will have 6,000 homes.

Vehicle crash results in hospital visits for 3

A two-vehicle crash in the area of Route 47 and Kenneth on Friday moming resulted in the driver of one of the ve¬
hicles being airlifted to sur¬ gery.
According to Sgt. Kevin Hillner of the Huntley Police Department, the accident oc¬ curred around 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, when a minivan car¬ rying two passengers crossed
over the center lane of Route 47 and slammed into a gas¬ oline truck. The driver and passenger, both from Wood¬ stock, were taken to area hospitals.
The driver was airlifted to Lutheran General Hospital in
Park Ridge to undergo sur¬ gery for her injuries, but the ftill extent of those injuries was not knovm, though she was listed in critical condition as of that afternoon.
The  passenger was  taken for treatment of minor injuries
to Woodstock Hospital.
The driver of the gasoline truck did not suffer any in¬ juries. The names of those involved in the accident were not released by either the police or the hospitals.
