Huntley musidans appear with Augustana Concert Band
Patrick Mulcahy, Jr. and Eric Lemmon, two Huntley res¬ idents are members of the Augustana Concert Band which will perform in Huntley on Friday, March 6. This is the only stop the band will make in McHenry County.
The concert, sponsored by Huntley Music Boosters, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Huntley High School gymnasium at 13719 Harmony Road. The event is open to the public, with a free-will offering taken at the door. The Augustana College Concert Band, from Rock Island, Illinois is nationally rec¬ ognized for its musical virtuosi¬ ty- Eric Lemmon is the son of Loren and Polly Lemmon.

a sophomore studying mathe¬ matics and computer science.
Patrick Mulcahy, Jr. is the son of Patric and Linda Mulcahy of Huntley. Patrick is a 1995 graduate of Huntley High School. He is a junior at Augustana, majoring in theater.
Founded in 1874, the Augustana Concert Band is the oldest musical organization on a campus widely recognized for its rich heritage in music. During World War I, members of the Augustana Band enlisted as a unit in the service of their country, and in 1928, the band became one of the first American collegiate groups to tour Europe.
In 1976, the Augustana Concert Band was selected by the Illinois and Washington, D.C., Arts Council to appear at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the nation's capital as the official Illinois representative for the U.S. Bicentennial observance. The Concert Band has also per¬ formed at the Music Educators National Conference conven¬ tion.
Tours have taken the
Concert Band into 23 states for appearances in a variety of set¬ tings, including Orchestra Hall in Chicago; Town Hall in New York City; Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha, Nebraska; Crouse Auditorium on the Syracuse University campus, Syracuse,
New York; numerous high schools, grade schools, and churches. Most recently, the concert band has toured Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York, and last year trav¬ eled to Washington, Oregon, and Califomiar
