Inside Grafton Township minutes Plan Commission minutes 3S The Thursday, July 15,1999 Faimside A Press Publications newspaper mr serving tlie Huntley community Volume 39, Issue 14 Reed Road proposal up for review By Craig WIeczoridewiez Press Publications Residents should get the op¬ portunity later this month to voice their opinions regarding the proposed Reed Road development The Pulte Home Corp. has proposed to Himtley officials a possible devel¬ opment that would be located on the north side of Reed Road that would include the construction of 330 houses and a shopping center on the 160-acre parcel of land commonly referred to as the Meier farm. 'N^age officials told residents at a meeting late last month that they should get the chance to voice their opinions regarding the proposed de¬ velopment sometime in late July, at a meeting time yet to be determined Some residents of the south side of Reed Road have complained that they are worried that building such a de¬ velopment would bring too much traf¬ fic into the area and therefore take away from the nural feel of that part of the community. A long-term traffic study recently prepared for the viUage by CivUtech Engineering predicts that there would be significantly heavier traffic volumes on Reed Road due largely to the pro¬ posed development Village officials are looking at sev¬ eral options for alleviating ttie added traffic burden, including a westem ex¬ tension of Reed Road aroimd the nearby Oak Crest subdivision. They are also considering rerouting the east-west road so that it tums north through part of the Meier form land. Those options will be discussed more at the public feedback meeting later this month.
