ILL PAGES aavHuc THE PEowJ OF BvirnxfmiKx m§ LIONESSES RECEIVE THEIR CHARTER ^= tSfPttconr Lioness 1st regular meeting since their Charter nite. There were 16 members in attendance. Following roll call and minutes a representative of Lion's International presented President Carol Weirich with the hand printed charter. The Lionesses decided that their first service project will be Viala for Life. These vials will be kept in the refrigerator by each Huntley family with pertinent medical information enclosed for each member of the family. The vials will be distributed by the club in a couple of months. The District Lions Convention on april 20 & 21 was discussed. A special basket was made up for donations. The Lioness voted unanimously to award Mrs. George Abbanamto with the Lioness Extension Award for all of her help in getting the Huntley club started on her own time. The meeting was concluded with each member signing the charter. The nezt meeting will be on Wednesday, May 16 at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion. MUSIC SERVICE AT CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH APRIL 29th "I'll keep singing!" is the theme of the service in music by Toby and Barb Waldowski on Sunday, April 29. at 10:30 a.m. at the Congregational Church b HunUey. From their home in Orange, Califomia, Toby and Barb have gained nationwide prominence through their television appearances. This beautiful young couple have a talent to delight, refresh and inspire. Rev. Roger Mealiff, pastor in Huntleym notes the spirit of vitality b the music Toby haa written is as contagious as their personal warmth. As these songs are skillfully blended with familiar favorites, people of all agea welcome and enjoy these gracious young musicians. ST. MARY'S CANCER WALK-A-THON RAISES Last Saturday 46 Confinnation students from St. Mary's Catholic Church conducted a Cancer Walk-a-Thon. It is estimated that the class made over SSOO for this chanty. Linda Koppie and Devin Koppie tied for first place as they around the mile course 26 times explained Chairman Edith Serio. Children from the 6, 7 and 8 graders participated while eight of the mothers helped to serve the children milk donated by Dean's Milk and cookies donated by Harry's IGA. Mrs. Serip praised all ofthe children not only for their efforts for the Cancer Society but also for their neatness. She explained tbat it was such a good ezperience that she would be willing to set up another march. The menu will feature spag¬ hetti as a main course. It wii start at 12:30 PM in the school cafeteria. The cost for the agiMl will be the regular aduh price of Sl.OO. Parents may call the element¬ ary school oflice (669-5100) for reservations. REFERENDUM NEWi A referendum to consider raising the tax rates Ua Huatiey School district 1S8 will be held on may S. The polls will be open from 12:00 nooo until 7:00 P.M. Absentee ballots may be picked up at the Hoatley High School office at 1201S MUt Street, Monday through Ftiiey, from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. The laat day that abaentee ballou will be available is Msy 4. The oommunity is invited to the high school oa Satnrday, April 28, at 1:00 P.M. to discuss the upcoming referendum. Board members and administ¬ rators will be present to answer questions. TRINITY CHURCH TO HOLD SPRING RALLY The Lutheran Women's Mis¬ sionary League of Circuit #9 will hold its SPRING RALLY on Thutsday evening, April 26, 1979 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Woodstock. Regist¬ ration will begin at 6:00 p.m. There w'ill be a small registrat¬ ion fee which will include a light supper. The theme this year will be in keeping with the Internat¬ ional Year of the Child. Our guest speaker will be Dr. E. Triegioff of the Eoierson Coun¬ seling Center. His topic will be the Emotional and Spiritual Development of the Child. Any interested persons are invited to attead thla meeting of fellow¬ ship with God.
